How to beat Obama.

This is all about the economy. Obama is vulnerable on the economy.

Perhaps, but that opens the GOP nominee to an economy counter-attack, given the fact it was failed, disastrous conservative/republican fiscal policy that brought about the economic collapse to begin with.

And there’s no indication after all this time the GOP will switch tactics from attacking Obama personally to addressing substantive issues (most likely because they lose on the issues, the Ryan Debacle being the best example).

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

This one needs a reality check, like, big time.

You might have a point if so much of the policy that led to the 2008 housing bubble collapse and the current rotten economy hadn't been initiated and festered along from Carter through Clinton through Bush to get to now. And it was a Democratically controlled Congress that blew President Bush off for two years when he repeatedly sounded the alarm re an unstable Fannie and Freddie and urged Congress to deal with it. There are youtube records of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd assuring us that everything was just hunky dory and no problem to worry about.

The 'blame Bush' mantra and talking point isn't going to carry much weight by 2012. Obama is going to need a different schtick.

I'd make Obama run on his record, you know:

50,000,000 unemployed
$14,000,000,000,000 debt
$1,200,000,000,000 deficits
$4 gas
Bailouts
3 wars

And don't let him get away with the lame "it would have been so much worse if not for me" approach.

but this is coming from a liar..

Please point out which figure is a lie and how you know.
Otherwise we would have to conclude that you are the liar. Like there was any question.

Four years ago we had unemployment under 7%, a dollar that was worth something, gas prices under $3, and a gov't that wasn't taking over everything in sight.
Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?

There was no "conservative/Republican fiscal policy." The Dums had control of Congress in 07 and on and the RINOs were helping them out. There were a few dissenters among the GOP, like Jeff Flake, but few.

But tell ya what, you run with that. Tell the electorate "yes, we have been in power for 4 years now and things suck. But it was the GOP 5 years ago that really screwed it up. We just have been incompetent and have spent the last 4 years throwing money and regulations at everything that moves."
Let us know how that one works out for you.

Amazing how silent the libs are regarding gas prices when just 4 yrs ago they were having nuclear meltdowns accusing Booooooooooooooosh of being in bed with BIG OIL.. Bunch of hypocritical morons.

They have meltdowns and declare the end of the Republic whenever a Republican does something. Warrantless wiretaps? Tyranny. Gas over $3, economic destruction. Wars in the middle east? American imperial arrogance.
Except when a Dem does it. Then it's unpatriotic not to support the president.
The Left are the biggest bunch of fucking hypocrites to walk this planet.

But in reality, is a GnOP candidate going to get past the primaries without them?

No. Especially now the the States are NOT winner take all in GOP primaries.

I agree with Charles that fiscal issues are going to drive the 2012 elections.

But what good is gaining moderates if you lose your base?

What the GOP needs in a candidate is first and foremost a strong fiscal conservative, but one that also has firm Pro-life, Second Amendment and anti-illegal immigration record.

Without that you may gain the middle, but lose the base...what good is that?

Better to have a candidate that appeals to both the base AND moderates and independents.

When you try to find somebody who is acceptable to everybody, you have somebody split every way but Sunday and who will usually lose on election day. Such people appear neither genuine nor credible.

For the candidate to be acceptable to most Republicans, all he or she needs is not to be pro-abortion, pro excessive gun control, and pro illegal immigration. He or she doesn't need to make pro-life, pro-gun, anti-illegal immigration a cornerstone of his/her campaign.

He or she WILL need the Tea Party vote, however, and that means commitment to a balanced budget whatever that takes, allegiance to the original intent of the Constitution with an emphasis on individual liberty, and a willingness to start rolling back and scaling down an over reaching, bloated, top heavy government.

I disagree, s/he needs to, at a minimum, be on record as pro-life, defender of the 2nd amendment and anti-amnesty.

The base won't buy a pig in a poke.

I agree that s/he need not, in fact should not, make social issues a cornerstone of the campaign.

Maybe it wast he pic of Bush and the Sheik holding hands.... Maybe it was the photo of them swapping spit with each others tongues down each others throats...

Prezidential/Saudi porn does that to the masses.

Just a guess....

Maybe, but the Tea Partiers aren't pushing for candidates to take a stand on these issues. If the candidate is believable in saying s/he would not favor legislation promoting more abortions or more gun control, and s/he did favor strictly enforcing existing immigration laws, but my first priorities are going to be taking care of the deficit and debt, putting people back to work, and restoring Constitutional integrity - and -

If s/he has a track record that backs him or her up on those points. . . .

I don't think a candidate will have to flat our declare that he or she is staunchly pro life, pro second amendment NRA style, or intends to round up and deport all the illegals.

And the nation will be reminded over and over and over again that all that went to shit as a result of the Bush Economic Crash of 2008. Because it's true.

History is gonna be a real bitch for the GOP in 2012.

I wouldn't be too sure it was all conservative policy that led to the disaster we are in right now.

Yes, run on that meme. Please.

Hint: People don't give a shit whose fault the situation is. They want to know what you are doing to make it better. In Obama's case the answer is nothing but express concern over and over without actually doing anything.

Go America??!! LMFAO!!! DingleBarry has gone around apologizing for this country for the last two years and taking swipes at our nation as a whole and yet you leftist assclowns pretend he never said those things. You need a fuckin rubber room.

Really. I consider myself fairly well informed and although I wish for America that Obama had had some co-operation from the GOP getting more done in jobs and deficit I have never seen him apologize on any of his appearances. You seem pretty adamant about that point. There is no doubt you have video clips of a couple of these apologies since according to you he has been at it steady for two years.

Please provide links to at least two apologies...

Thanks.

Here's a list with sources. Shouldn't be hard to come up with the quotations in context:

As compiled by Dr. Gardiner and Ms. Roach the following is the list of the 10 most significant apologies by the President of the United States in his first four months of office, as they relate to foreign policy and national security issues.

1. Apology to France and Europe ("America Has Shown Arrogance")
Speech by President Obama, Rhenus Sports Arena, Strasbourg, France, April 3, 2009.

2. Apology to the Muslim World ("We Have Not Been Perfect")
President Obama, interview with Al Arabiya, January 27, 2009

3. Apology to the Summit of the Americas ("At Times We Sought to Dictate Our Terms")
President Obama, address to the Summit of the Americas opening ceremony, Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, April 17, 2009

4. Apology at the G-20 Summit of World Leaders ("Some Restoration of America's Standing in the World")
News conference by President Obama, ExCel Center, London, United Kingdom, April 2, 2009

5. Apology for the War on Terror ("We Went off Course")
President Obama, speech at the National Archives, Washington, D.C., May 21, 2009

6. Apology for Guantanamo in France ("Sacrificing Your Values")
Speech by President Obama, Rhenus Sports Arena, Strasbourg, France, April 3, 2009

7. Apology before the Turkish Parliament ("Our Own Darker Periods in Our History")
Speech by President Obama to the Turkish Parliament, Ankara, Turkey, April 6, 2009

10. Apology for Guantanamo in Washington ("A Rallying Cry for Our Enemies")
President Obama, speech at the National Archives, Washington, D.C., May 21, 2009

Ok Republicans and Conservatives.

This is how you beat Obama. It is rather simple.

Contrast. Don't get hung up on Social Conservatism. Nominate a no nonsense Fiscal Conservative who is a stark contrast to Obama and you will walk in.

Nominate a wishy washy middle of the road Moderate to liberal Republican and you will lose. Period.

Don't let the Dems and the Liberal Press anoint our Candidate. Don't try and pick the Candidate the Dems and Liberal Press like the most. Pick the ones they hate. They hate them for a reason. They know they can beat Obama.

That said, I must restate. PLEASE do not make this Election about Social Conservative Issues! That's a loser. Push Social issues to much, and you will lose the middle, which will vote for you if you talk about fiscal Conservatism and limited Power, but are gonna bail as soon as you start talking Religious right BS.

By my Standards my top 2 Choices to beat Obama, are so far, not even planning to run. :(

That's not only a recipe to win, it's a recipe to improve this country. Social conservative issues at the expense of fiscal issues has created this monster. Fighting the culture war with federal dollars costs us all a great deal.

Well he pleased his royal masters with that one. The Saudis have wanted OBL gone for years.

What you fail to understand is the GOP nominee – whomever he may be – will only bring to the table the same failed conservative fiscal policies. Voters aren’t going to buy that.

I don't like the president bowing. But I like him "KISSING" men whose breath tastes like dick even less. And holding hands? I heard Bush sprayed disinfectant on his hand after shaking hands with Obama. Guess Arab doesn't rub off, but black does. I've heard Republicans say, "Swapping spit is what equals do". Yuk.

Wait a second, is that Bush and the Prince when they "first met"?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

We haven't had any conservative policies. All the failures have been liberal policies. From FNMA to CRA to QE1 and QE2 to Stimulus I, II, and III to cash for clunkers, cash for caulkers, cash for unions, HAMP etc etc etc..every one of them a gross failure whether proposed by Bush or Obama.
The failure has come from the idea that gov't can manage the economy and reverse the business cycle. It cannot. But it can make things much worse.
