This is untrue. The real divide is between urban areas vs rural areas. This is because that-in general-the more rural the area the stronger the belief in individuality and freedom. It only appears to be a North/South thing because the North is more urbanized. In actuality the South would prefer to get the North (along with the west coast and great lakes area) out of our union.
