Last night I had to reorder something and got a very pleasant very Californian fellow on the line. While waiting on processing we talked about the news of the day. He lived and hour away from LA, I don’t know which way.we talked about rain, the border wall, the fubar in Washington DC, and the high speed train boondoggle. The most interesting conversation was about the homeless problem. He lived somewhere where the public transportation rail line ended. He told me the way Hollywood and the rich enclaves solved their homeless problems is to export it to the poorer sections of the state thereby protecting their self proclaimed aristocratic status. The coastal fiefdoms give each homeless person a one way ticket to the end of the line, several vouchers for a cheap motel, and a small sum of cash. The quintessential not in my backyard, but in reverse. To ad insult to injury, he told me that when they have to release prisoners from overcrowded jails, they follow the same procedure and ship them to the end of the line. How much more progressive can you get?

Rich people make sure they don't suffer the effects of the liberal policies they support.
