I see it as more sinister.

They deliberately desensitize violence, glorify piss poor weapons handling and irresponsible shooting with "thug culture" plots as well as savage behavior.

They WANT the violence to be real, so that they gain a political advantage in their pursuit of a disarmed vapid proletariat.

They would be far more successful if they would stop making the violent films and that goes for TV, too. Then, with a little assistance from a "just say no" type message, it would eventually seem an unacceptable solution to conflict.

What you see on some channels used to be called "Soft Core" porn and relegated to special sections in video stores...now it is starting to appear on t.v. shows at 8:00 at night....
