How much of this socializing of America can be undone in 2010?

Can any of these budget deficit, borrowing, taxing actions of the lefty administration and congress be undone? I assume some of it but not all of it. How about this healthcare debacle? Can it be set right in 2010? I don't know. Help me out here, please.

once you give a parasite an entitlement they will latch onto it like a leech and it's hard to get it back.

Lets see how long it takes Obama to clean up Bush's mess first. :)

lame, very very lame. he ain't cleaning up no mess, he's making a bigger mess, gonna leave it for someone else to clean up. your grandbabies

The last twelve years is only part of the story. The USA has been moving towards a type of socialism for about a hundred years under the guise of the progressive movement. That movement really gained steam when the 17th amendment was passed. That did more to empower the federal government than anything else. We should repeal the 17th amendment and return the power of government to the states.

How has the direct election of Senators moved the US towards "a type of socialism"?

Historical note. The 62nd Congress [4/4/11 - 3/4/13): the Senate had a Republican majority, the House a Demcratic majority and Taft (R) was POTUS

The direct election of senators contributes to a bigger central government and a less powerful state and local government. That is the opposite of what was intended by the founding fathers. The election of federal senators by the state assemblies insured direct input by the state assemblies in federal government. The progressives from both parties pushed the 17th amendment through under the guise of giving more 'power to the people', while in fact the power of the federal government was enhanced at the cost of the states, and therefore the people.
In short, the 17th amendment moved us more towards socialism by giving the federal government too much power while removing power from the state and local governments.

Define "parasite" please. Some might believe you are suggesting the military-industrial complex, the oil cartel, big pharma & big farma.
Since both parties have supported borrowing and deficit spending to prosecute the war in Iraq, why do you propose it's all the fault of "lefties"? Especially when the 'lefites' are the ones who adamently opposed the war in Iraq, and the righties used a full court press for the invasion?
I also wonder whatever happended to Grover Norquist? Remember him, the leader (inside the beltway) of Americans for Tax Reform? His goal was to cut the federal government in half by 2025; is our economic crisis a planned result of his ideas and his cohorts ("Strave the Beast" policies) or an unintended conseequences of a failed ideology?

One might expect a state legiislature to 'elect' a Senator everytime who is a former member of their body, and, a member of the party holding power in the state. Both factors seem reasonable assumpitons; directly electing Senators alllows for debate and takes the process from the smoke filled rooms directly to the living rooms of the people. How does this work to increase the power of the federal government?
Historically, the people have used the power of the vote to spread control of our national government, repeal of 17 would seem to benefit those who support greater one-party rule and the possibility of a rubber stamp legislature.

I don't know how old you are but if you have no idea what a parasite is,, well,, biology,, is the ticket

None of it.

Newt's hubris caused him to believe that "the Presidency is irrelevant" and he was 100% wrong.

We need a Conservative Congress and President and that's never happened in my lifetime and can't happen in 2010 but might happen in 2012

[QUOTEI don't believe the economic problems Obama is causing will ever be able to be corrected. He's printing money off as fast as the presses can crank it out[/QUOTE]

Well if that isn't what folks thought of Ronald Reagan and Bush the 1 and 2.
