If a state wanted to enact red flag laws, ban AR-15 rifles and similar weapons, prevent the mentally ill from owning guns, etc. and a county said "nope we're not doing that" what would actually happen? Would states have grounds to sue the county? Withold funding? Dismiss county officials who dont comply? Ive never seen this scenario played out to know what would happen

The ONLY source of any legal authority comes from the defense of individual rights.
Since counties are closer to individuals than states, clearly counties have higher authority.
So no state can over ride counties.

Firearms are necessary for individual defense, so no government can ever infringe upon firearm rights legally.

Finally, these red flag laws are clearly illegal because they do not allow for a person to have their day in court to defend themselves first. They also violate laws against ex post facto bans. And finally, it would be an incitement to violence to send police into a confrontation with someone who really was agitated and armed. Stupidest thing anyone could ever do, to ensure the maximum violence.

The entire United States, it's territories and possessions are a 2nd Amendment sanctuary. Progressive socialist Democrats are way over their bony little heads if they try any of their tactics.

Without the means to enforce unconstitutional law in sanctuary counties, not much. Of course, the counties could sue the state over any funds withheld. The state cannot dismiss elected county officials. In Virginia, those counties have been invited to join West Virginia. If push were to come to shove, that is a viable possibility.

Currently, approx. 90% of the Commonwealth has declared sanctuary. Fairfax, Loudoun, Albemarle counties and a few cities are in the same position as George III's England v. American colonists.

It's not just gun rights, but election law, immigration, school policies, etc. The Democrats think they can turn Virginia into California. I disagree.
