The left can finally accurately compare Obama to FDR. Of course FDR had a few minor things to accomplish that Obama did not like a Great Depression and WW2, but hey, the comparison is there.

1. The president has no control over mandatory spending
2. The constitution gives congress the power to control spending
3. every president inherits his predecessors policies and debt
4. hurricanes, catastrophic events add to spending
5. the national debt is the sum total of every deficit left by every president

last but faaaaaar from least ..

6. RW's are F'n morons.

Can't wait for Republicans to cut the debt like they promised

How much NEW debt did President Obama create that wasn't a direct or indirect result of Bush actions and/or policies? Bush's debt obligations didn't just end on the day President Obama was sworn in. President Obama inherited TWO wars that Bush was paying for "OFF THE BOOKS" and Bush cut taxes during wartime - which was unprecedented in American history.

the op is trying to make FDR look like a debt chump, when in fact, FDR served four terms, went through a depression, and a war. He was a champion of, and for his country, and the people.

Republicans hate him because he was a Democrat .... and they are dumber than a damn grasshopper.

FDR was a disgrace. He shared the little White House (what it was called) in Warm Springs, Georgia with his mistress (Eleanor's personal secretary) Eleanor offered to divorce him but he was afraid it would hurt his chance of being re-elected.

So what? Ike also had a mistress - but they got the job done.

The job done? You mean the (937) Jewish men, women and children he sent to their deaths at Hitler's death camps because he turned the MS St. Louis away, refusing them refuge inside the USA? FDR was a disgrace! IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD.

That's funny. You are the same losers who claim clinton left a surplus, even though the republicans controlled the House and Senate in his last 6 years of his presidency.

You people are so pathetic.

Is Trump a disgrace?

Actually the free market got this country out of the depression. Common rewriting of history taught in our institutions of lower living, better known as marxist public schools.

You have any clue how many companies were STARTED in the 30s?

The most ironic consideration of all is we wouldn't be in debt today if Ronald Reagan performed the most basic accounting function of all by balancing the books. Instead, he made it impossible for succeeding presidents to get ahold of the enormous problem he left the country with. Now we have a Republican party who used to be fiscal managers spending money like whores who found a credit card.

COMPLETE BULLSHIT

The 2009 fiscal year began October 1, 2008, for which Bush was running 1.3T deficit, nearly four months before Obama took office.

How much of that is "Obama leaving debt"?

Here is what serious analysis looks like (Obama's only other major debt contribution was permanently extending most of Bush's tax cuts in 2012):

War and empire is expensive ain't it.

It sure is. I read an article the other day where they were proposing some sort of 'War Tax.' I mean we're only $20 in Debt, right? I think a 'War Tax' would cause the 'Less Taxes' Warmongering crowd to rethink starting numerous wars. It's something to ponder anyway.
