How many of you think socialism simply rewards the lazy?

I take issue with the statement that only the rich have access to health care. Give me a break. I have access to health care. I pay for it, and I am very grateful for the privelege to work and make a responsible choice to spend my money on health care. I am NOT rich, by any stretch of the imagination. I am a working-class American who has made health insurance a priority. Period.

Agreed. I make less than $40k, but am fully covered regarding docs, hospitalization, mental health, dental, optical, chiropractors, acupuncture...

Does your employer contribute to this? Is anybody else on the policy? How much is the premium? Are you in a small, medium or large pool? What percentage of the the health insurance in your state is captured by your insurer?

In my state, one insurer has 39% of the market. I heard Gibbs say this morning that in Alabama one insurer has 85% of the market.

I am against this 'reform' because:
it is the loss of freedom...
I will be forced to use DMV type facilies because the competition will go away
I will not have a choice without an extended wait
I will not have a choice in companies I choose to support (when it is implemented, there will only be the gov option)
If a mistake is made, there will be no lawsuit
it will be an infringement on my privacy:
my medical records will be available online, nationwide (how many cases of idenity theft are there now)
under one of the bills, congress wants access to my bank account, that will go with my other personal information for easy access
gov personnel that know how to access medical information will be able to pull my records for their own reasons (not necessarily professional, possibly political).
My relationship with my doctor will be a semi-public matter (conversations posted with records)

a national medicine will grow the gov:
there will have to be a Czar appointed
there will have to be a department made
there will have to be a record keeping section that can track EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the United States (something the immigration services can't manage for approximately 20 million)
those records will have to have an information technology department to keep the records on computer databases and servers and the updates and security (haha) to keep all records private
there will have to be a section that approves or disproves services
there will have to be quality (haha) inspectors for doctors and professionals, janitorial staff, administration staff, and IT
there will have to be customer representatives
there will have to be education managers for doctors, nurses, PAs, nursing aids, etc
there will have to be diversity experts to make sure there is an 'equitable' distribution of race, sex, sexual orientation, exotic religions represented in the people that interface with the public
there will have to be a food service section to oversee the food services in medical facilities
there will have to be a contracting or purchasing section to verify all purchases for medical , office and building supplies go thru the gov for approval (in case they aren't paying enough)
there will have to be a fleet management section to ensure vehicles are available for quality assurance and management personnel (oh yeah and ambulances too)
there will have to be waste management section or biological fouling department to label and track all medical waste
there will be a department for water treatment in medical facilities
etc, etc, etc

For those that want nation health care: do you really want to pay for all the above?
