Looks bad.
Obama got permission from the Yemenese govt to use drones and cruise missles on terrorist locations.
Their oil is running our so they are going broke.
3 major factions outside of the govt fighting for control and or independence.

the latest aircraft bombing attempt appears to be the direct result of the US attacing a terrorist base in Yemen.

We have special forces in Yemen.

We have to take the fight to Al Qaida. Let them know they have no safe haven anywhere in the world. Seems to be an effective strategy

Absolutely. We have recently seen strikes against these people in Somalia, Yeman, and Pakistan. I am willing to bet there have been strikes that we do not know about.

President Obama seems to have a policy of getting them where ever they are at, and not making much noise about it.

Yemen is a nation that has needed focus for YEARS, since the USS Cole was bombed there. I have always advocated taking out terrorists regardless of WHERE they are. Any policy that supports that, regardless of what administration comes up with it has my full support. It is my understanding though, that some of the very first RQ-1 strikes ever were fired on a car in Yemen..

On November 3, 2002, a RQ-1 Predator fired a Hellfire missile at a car in Yemen. Al Qaeda leader Qaed Senyan Abu Ali al-Harithi was the target and is believed to have been killed according to U.S. official. The attack also killed five other men including an American citizen suspected of belonging to Al Qaeda.

With any luck there ought to be a wedding reception or kids birthday party that can be blown up.

We need to stop bombing other countries, so people like the Christmas-would-be-bomber aren't given the incentive to bomb us.

It is and endless loop isn't it?
Why I did not give Obama kudos on this. He is just keeping it going.

Any exit strategy ideas?

We need much more than drones and cruise missiles.

We need boots on the ground.

Not really.

Air strikes are not enough.

Careful what you wish for Bud....

This is a big fucking planet with a LOT of ground.

Do we have enough boots to cover it all?

What if we stop and they keep bombing us anyway?

Well I'm not denying that there are terrible people in the world who may want to bomb us just to do it, but we would drastically reduce that number if we stopped bombing them, occupying them, and enacting murderous sanctions against them.

A FYI.

Yemen is a country not a planet.

Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, Ingalls Operations, Pascagoula, MS, April 19 2002, the guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) heads out to sea to rejoin the U.S. Navy fleet, following 14 months of repairs after a terrorist bomb blew a hole in the port side of the ship while refueling in the port city of Aden, Yemen, on Oct. 12, 2000, killing 17 sailors.
