Interesting article. Brings to mind Tom Freedman's book The World is Flat.

How Long Will America Lead the World?
By Fareed Zakaria, Newsweek
June 12, 2006 Issue

The United States is still the dominant force in technology, innovation, productivity and profits. But Americans don't quite realize how fast the rest of the world is catching up.

I disagree with him that Americans are not 'scared' enough, take a look at all the discussions on outsourced jobs. Trust me, someone is working on the next new tech industry, which replaced 'service industry', which replaced manufacturing, which replaced agriculture, etc.

It doesn't look good. The IT industry was outsourced because corporate leaders were too intimidated by white nerds who were smarter than them and whom they couldn't control with visas.

The plan to destroy america was begun in earnest the day we decided to give china favored nation status. Our leaders are selling our ports to muslims and destroying our borders. Sayonara, baby, it was a good ride. All hail the new world order, a new age is dawning. Annuit Coeptis novus ordo seclorum.

Agreed---Unless the Americans want to save it with a strong dose of nationalism, it's a goner.

oh no, not the N-word.

Ya--sorry but it's America in my book. An America without a strong sense of national pride may as well kiss itself goodbye. Lets see how a candidate that runs on an "America First" policy does. People would come out of the woodwork to vote for him/her.

Exactly.

The Left feels ashamed we are the best place to live on the planet. They want to dumb-down america, so it's not so great. They want the world to be a level playing field.

Fockers.

Chin up folks. Don't forget that the American spirit is renewed with each generation. It is our freedom and flexibility as a society that gives cause for great confidence that our best days are yet to come. Our country has gone through these cycles in the past and come out on top. I'm not pearing at the future through rose colored glasses. There are always hard choices to be made. Other nations, such as China or India may well in the future boast economies the equal to or perhaps greater than out own. But remember it is OUR MODEL they are following. It is OUR MODEL that has and will eventually liberate their people from economic and political privation. I have a great belief in this nation. We will turn back the nihilistic hedonism and vapid belief systems of the left. The socialists will be defeated. Once the lefts notion of an all powerful, all controlling government has been vanquished the spirit of freedom and entrepreneurialism will be free to flourish again!!!!

You're assuming our leadership wants this. They don't. They've sold out to internationalist pressures.

Yawn. The "leadership" can't kill the American spirit.

The american spirit will be labelled race based nationalism. Our country now only functions to serve the interests of the global elite. Why is china allowed to devalue it's currency and thus corner the world market on manufacturing? Why jeff, you tell me.

Google it if you're so curious. Geez, you sound like you're becoming a NWO spokesman.

Oh. So they integrate peaceful with the world? That's why they're ratcheting up military production, nationalism, and siding with Iran.

Anyone notice how all the government employees hate acknowledging how our government is screwing us over?

Leaders come and go. The people remain. We control our future, not those who would impose their will upon us. Our current crop of "leaders" won't be around forever. Fact of the matter is historically we are in a low point in leadership. This too has occured in the past of the United States. Merely note the period between Andrew Jackson's Presidency and that of Lincoln. The times and their needs produce true leadership. Is not the mere existence of this message board itself an example that we are yearning for new leadership? Where yearning exists it's companion, the courage of men and women to step into the void and match that yearning, surely will follow. We are a tough bunch we Americans. We will overcome political correctness. The tough choices and decisions will be made, so help us God. Our posts on this board and others, and the beliefs behind them cannot be contained for long. The murmers of my fellow citizens, most of them whispered now, as the "atmosphere" of political correctness imposed by the left currently is straggling proper thought, will become a crescendo of change. I feel it coming.

Yeah. That's why our leaders will do nothing about immigration despite the clear will of the people. Instead we get lectured about being racists and anti-business. I wish you were right, but you're just not.

We shall see. "When, in the course of human events," to borrow a phrase we all know, a government no longer reflects the will of the people, that government cannot long stand.

And on a less serious note, I'm off off for a splended weekend of golf, fishing, and exploration of the bounty nature has provided in the greatest nation the planet has ever seen. Adieu and the best to all of you.

Have fun. Sorry I'm in such a "pee on the parade" mood today.

Yep, I agree with you and Rico. The spirit part and the cycles part. Kudos to you both!
