I was being sarcastic about mylife.com. it is far more pervasive and has real world consequences what we do have and it will just get worse thanks to technology. MyLife just does in the open what facebook and google do behind closed doors--compile individual information and offers it for sell to anyone wanting to buy it. In addition to the stuff mentioned, insurance companies have been doing it for years as well--health records, driving records, etc etc etc.

How many americans get turned down for a job because of their government criminal record or get denied housing/employment because they are on the government's sex offender list? From what I have read about the evolution of the Chinese system, it started similar to what American policing often looks like today in urban areas--data driven high enforcement in areas using things like stop and frisk etc targeted at whole communities. Sorry, I just do not see this as fundamentally different than the path we are on now in America.

Whenever they are actually in power -- they will call for it.. It's the way that ONE PARTY system maintain their monopoly on political power... Like California for instance who is ACTIVELY WORKING to make the state a "One Party" state with their "Top 2" jungle primaries and other legislation...

The danger in the USA is --- that some COMMERCIAL venture will collate all that personal information and social networking data-mining that being done --- to DO the Social Credit scores FOR them... So that politicians would have plausible deniability.....
