How Is It That Obamacare is Socialized Medicine, but Medicare Isn't?

One of the smelliest old red herrings of the committed Fabian.

The military is the collectivized manifestation of the individual right of self defense.

There is no inherent right to force others to pay your medical bills, or other bills for that matter, no matter how old or poor you are.
if you're trying to be some kind of guru about the shit, then medical care is the collectivized manifestation of the individual right to self preservation.

i think this collectivized manifestation of right mandate concept is diarrhea for the record, but you've not even thought it through all the way, notwithstanding.
I've thought it through quite well.

You have no right to force me to pay for services rendered to a third party, no matter how self-preserving they may be.

So I shouldn't be forced to pay for the military, police, streets...

Protecting the lives, property and sovereign borders of America benefits everyone equally...None more so, none less so.
Protecting the lives and health of Americans benefits everyone [since nobody exists in the world but Americans, apparently] equally...None more so, none less so

what do you smoke? the military benefits us uniformly? i made thousands this year off the airforce, how did you make out?

self preservation and self defense are on par how i see it, but you win; it's your stupid justification paradigm.

at any rate, the government is made up. they declare whatever rights they claim to have and people comply, more often than not. if you're not down, then you can try not to succumb to their assertion of those rights, say, by not paying your taxes or something. the rights of an organization like the government are illusory, if you're trying to get philosophical. on that basis, its irrelevant if they have them or not. it is your word on theirs, our constitution says it can innovate ways to tax and spend. presto: medicare.

Can someone explain to me how Obamacare is Socialized Medicine, but Medicare Isn't?

Is it because all the old people vote for Republicans?

The answer is obvious. Medicare was put in place by White People. Obama is black. It's just that simple.

Republicans believe in "everyman for himself". Unless that man is "rich". Then we need to cut their taxes.

I benefit from the USAF protecting sovereign American airspace, the same as everyone else does...No more, no less.

That you believe that the gubmint gives you your rights says a lot....There's no end to the supplication one will allow themselves to endure, once they assume the position of a serf.

Medicare is socialized medicine.

Then why did Bush expand it? Why does Jim DeMint say it's untouchable?

How is Obamacare any worse?

It's not "untouchable" because he has any personal feelings about it.

It's untouchable because AARP says so.

It's got nothing to do with socialism whatsoever. Stop being retarded.

fight socialism! NO MORE VA!

Or Military, which is socialist!

Carry yer own damned gun.

Like the government mandated in the 1700s.

Oh Bullshit.

The type of Military we are now saddled with was not mandated by the United States Constitution and is one of the most socialist institutions in history..or the history of the Military. Come to think of it..most socialist and communist countries have huge militaries. Our original army was meant to be made up of part time militia to be called forth by congress when the need arose..not professional full time soldiers. The navy is the only permanent stucture mandated by the Constitution. It's when our little 13 state country decided to expand..that the need for something a little more substantial was seen.

"Collectivized manifestation"...indeed.

Just what the fuck do you think socialism is?

Detroit pays for all those things and more resembles Somalia.

:eusa_hand: you couldn't point out where i've ever argued that the government gives me rights. how did you manage that conclusion? i've stated that the government claims what rights they will intend to have. unlike living creatures able to determine their own actions, i've argued, entities like the government don't have any natural rights, whatsoever. you'll have to swallow your serf argument and try again.

like many other businesses and individuals which have contracted for the government, me and my clique benefit more than yourself from the USAF... more, not less. my point is that your fantasy that the largess can benefit uniformly under any circumstances is outrageously farcical, kid. the armed forces are some of the slickest mechanisms for targeted wealth distribution at the government's disposal.

the 'ol doublefail, dude.

Medicare and Medicaid are socialized medicine...And they're abysmal failures.

But somehow, that's seen as evidence that the feds need to meddle even further in the medical marketplace.

Your statements, in fact, almost always unsupported, are evidence of your continued failure to coherently present anything other than your own deranged opinion. I notice that all of the Tea Party members on Medicare have no intention of giving up their socialized health care. Not only morons, also hypocrites.
I'm not one of the Tea Party bunch, Skeezix.

The objectively quantifiable evidence of the failure of Medicare/Medicaid is that they cost in excess of 10X (including inflation) what they were projected to cost....Now the same people who gave us those fiscal disasters have conned schmucks like you to believe that they can "bend the cost curve".

Try again, fool.

Well, doesn't this approach by you look familiar. You make a silly assertion, I call you on it, and since you can't provide or support, you simply post another assertion and call names.

That is clearly why, when you offered twice to debate me and I accepted, you ran the other way as quickly as you could, passing Yurt along the way.

You are silly goof, who offers opinions that are of as much worth as when you break wind.

Talk about a load of CRAP!

How do you like them apples, lying son of a bitch?

You don't get to decide, Oddone, if you are going to be a part of the social compact and pay for it, other than by your vote.
