How Health Reform Benefits Small Employers (Oops)

Shane focuses his critique of health-care reform on the impact of the small business tax credits—a key component of the law that took effect in 2010—and even implies that the effect has been negative. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, many insurers saw a dramatic increase in small group plan enrollments in 2010. America's largest health insurance company, UnitedHealth Group (UNH), enrolled 75,000 new small business employees; Coventry Health Care (CVH) added 115,000 enrollees; and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City attributes its 58 percent increase in small business coverage specifically to the tax credits, noting that 38 percent of the new business came from companies that had not previously offered insurance.

How Health Reform Benefits Small Employers - BusinessWeek

This report, released with Families USA, a non profit consumer health care advocate, determined that about 84% of small businesses across the nation would be eligible for the tax credit on 2010 returns. This is over 4 million companies and is seen as a great benefit overall. It’s clear that there will be some type of improvement for small businesses as they strive to offer affordable health insurance benefits to their employees.

Health Care Reform Helps Small Businesses

-----------------------------------------

Oops.

Since the most expensive form of health care is "Emergency Room Visits", I guess Republicans want to stick the middle class with the bill.

Since the number one cause of bankruptcies is "medical bills", I guess Republicans want Americans to go bankrupt.

Since no one has been arrested or sent to prison for not buying HC, I guess that means Republicans are now, really, really depressed. Depressed enough to get HC? No, because it's a "pre existing condition".

Hmmm, why don't Republican leaders drop their "Government Health Care"? Isn't that "socialism"?

That must be why the Obama administration is issuing all those waivers, so that small business are not negatively impacted and can offer insurance.

Ah, you mean to tell me that the Health Care Bill actually helps small businesses? That cannot be true, everybody knows that President Obama is the Anti-Christ and working to destroy America. Just ask Willow:razz:

Obviously you did not read the article.

What the author is focusing on is the tax credits that allow small businesses to obtain group health insurance for its employees. The author assumes that the increase in group health sales is automatically beneficial to small businesses. I am not sure how he supprts this assumption since he neglects to give any data about actual expenses, not does he mention if the business had to fire people to cover the parts of the expenses not covered by the tax credit.

The only valid conclusion I can draw from the information supplied is that insurance companies are benefiting by selling more group plans. These tax credits are a strain on the deficit, and should be eliminated. As a matter of fact, all tax credits should be eliminated, because no business should receive government subsidies. Period.

But thanks for jumping on the idiots bandwagon and proving you know less about insurance than you do about science.

Free shit? Right now we pay twice as much as many other industrialized nations for substandard results. We are subsidizing some very rich CEOs in the health insurance companies.

Really, considering the results, we should go to a Canadian system.

Yet you support the government sending those same CEOs more money. The weirdest part about this is you think I am crazy for wanting to stop it.

And yet their average life span has increased three years more than ours since adapting their system. And their infant and young child mortality is far less than ours.

Yet sick individuals live longer under our system.

You get a choice here. Advocate for a perfect Canadian system that has a lower cancer survival rate, and has seniors who get sick dying faster. Or advocate for a broken system that somehow manages to keep people alive longer.

The Canadian life expectancy is higher because they have fewer murders and accidents per capita. Their infant mortality rate is higher because they do not count live births the same way we do. US law defines any infant that is breathes on its own for any length of time as a live birth, including premies under 28 weeks and those with anencephaly. We are the only country that does this.

Before you start tossing around random statistics you should get the facts that explain them.

Yea, no government subsidies for oil companies. As if Republicans are gonna let that happen.

And while we are at it, no more government funding of research. Or the environment. Or, well, except for wars, no government funding for anything. And for those Americans that need help? Fuck 'em. Let the fuckers die. According to the right wing, it's every man for himself. If you can't make it, you're a pussy. Feeding you is just prolonging the agony. Die quickly. Helping a fellow American is "socialism". Better the fuckers die than they get that nasty socialistic help.

Can you imagine the type of America the right wing says it wants? If they actually got it, they would freak.
