How do the "poor" live so well in the US?

Except you still haven't answered my question, you're still just sprouting GOP talking points.

I'll ask again:

What would you think of President Obama if he raised taxes by the largest amount in history when unemployment is over 10%? Would you say he's incompetent? Foolish? Dangerous to this country? Pretty simple question I think.

What is this? twenty questions ?
:eusa_angel:

Well I answered the question as it appeared in the post

Too funny "GOP talking points" is a talking point as well, you know

Really, one needs more
Which tax, income, with holding taxes etc ?

Each one has a different impact and effect

We have one tv, no cable, one laptop (I'm using it right now), a Wii (a gift), a Keurig offeemaker (a gift), a fridge (it comes with the apartment, duh), a blu-ray dvd player (gift!), and a/c. Of course I have a cell phone. No landline, though.

Poor people have it all wrong. They need to be like me and date generous men. :D

I'm seeing whether you have a mind of your own or whether you just follow party line. Perhaps you can point me to the post # where you give me a direct answer because I don't see it. And I've asked the same question three times now.

Though you can give me just a yes or no whether you think he's incompetent, foolish, or dangerous if he did that.

They're by far the richest "Poor People" on Planet Earth. They do just fine. Hard-Working American Taxpayers support their couch-potato Video Game playing Asses. That's how they live so well. It really is that simple in the end.

there is some truth to this.....i had some girl exchange students living in an apt on my route from Kenya.....they were talking to some people while waiting for their mail.....everyone was asking them about the difference in lifestyles.....and one girl said that a poor person in Africa would exchange places with a poor person here in a heartbeat...and i said to her....."even in Detroit?".....she said "even in Detroit".....she said the African kid would work his way out of the Ghetto, not stay there.....

Thanks. :clap2::clap2::clap2:

So huffy and your pic is so "happy" :eusa_angel:

There was nothing about taxes

But again, give me more some information on what kind of taxes

Let's say an increase in gasoline taxes is included for example. This is just a general question. We'll also say that for every $3 in spending cuts, there's a $1 increase in taxes.

Yep... it's the downward spiral that every Conservative wants to see happen... even to themselves.... all so the top 4-500 people in the country can accumulate as much of the wealth as possible.... and then... just when you think they can't get anymore???? they'll blame some other area for all the problems... so they can take advantage of it.

Every Conservative?......i guess we have yet another Tent thrower........

This should be the thread title:

Breaking News: Poor in Richest Nation on Earth unsurprisingly doing better than Middle Class and Poor in Poorest Nations on Earth.

Oh yes the Great Class Struggle !

Even after the failure of the USSR, the Left's mantra of class struggle keeps going
on and on

But it does warm an old comrade's heart

So Republicans, why does this news distress you?

Why do you want our poor to be living in fly infested conditions with extended bellies?

Ravi.....many Democratic practices keep people living in "poor" conditions too....here in California a well intentioned Entitlement program starts out actually helping people and then ten years later the same people are still on the program and the program is now out of Control and nobody is doing a dam thing about it.....and if someone says something.....they get a lot of grief from the "Activists" who are supporting the program( and no doubt how they make their living).....and of course they are called Racists, haters of the poor...Etc Etc.....

Well you are changing the question now
But this is going back to your thread from the other week

Do we really have to rehash all of this?
A gas tax might not be a good choice with fuel prices almost doubling under Papa
Obama since he took office

If we assume the multiplier effects are equal?
Then just doing $4 in spending cuts for $0 increase in taxes would be the same
effect as your $3 for $1 exchange. Since the US has a spending problem not a
taxing problem, this might be more prudent

As such, the increase in tax the Left seeks has nothing to do with actually helping the
American people, it is only about scoring political points for Papa Obama and themselves

My how "big" of the Left
:eusa_angel:

Besides Papa Obama already raised some taxes and increased spending to new heights
How much do you guys want?

Furthermore
Papa Obama and the Left raised gov't spending up to about 25% of GDP
Historically, it has been around 20%.

We have taken 5% away from the private sector; compromise means on the excessive spending
Give it back to the American people

I have to say one thing.
I grew up in a traditional conservative Republican Upper Middle Class home. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, we all drove down top the local Salvation Army and helped serve food to the poor. We always donated old clothes and household appliances and kitchenware that were still in good shape. Our neighborhood had lawn sales and did other fund raising to help the Salvation Army and other charities. We did volunteer work to help the poor in the inner city year around.
Our family believed in the words of Jesus about helping the poor and disadvantaged.
When I see posts like the posts I see on this thread that basically demonize the poor and I just shake my head. It wasn't that long ago when the GOP's values were sincere values, I don't believe regular Christian conservatives think along the lines of what has spewed out of some people here on this thread. Yeah, my family would now be considered RINOs and the such, but we have more class and more real values than many who posted on this thread that claim to be conservatives. I see human values really lacking here.

Under President Obama, government will spend more on welfare in a single year than President George W. Bush spent on the war in Iraq during his entire presidency. According to the Congressional Research Service, the cost of the Iraq war through the end of the Bush Administration was around $622 billion. By contrast, annual federal and state means-tested welfare spending will reach $888 billion in FY 2010. Federal welfare spending alone will equal $697 billion in that year.

Indeed, Modern Poverty Includes A.C. and an Xbox

Data from the Department of Energy and other agencies show that the average poor family, as defined by Census officials:

● Lives in a home that is in good repair, not crowded, and equipped with air conditioning, clothes washer and dryer, and cable or satellite TV service.

● Prepares meals in a kitchen with a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave as well as oven and stove.

● Enjoys two color TVs, a DVD player, VCR and — if children are there — an Xbox, PlayStation, or other video game system.

● Had enough money in the past year to meet essential needs, including adequate food and medical care.

And for all of that... they still cry and whine that it is not enough...and want more.

Kiwi.....my opinion of why there is so much animosity toward the poor is because there are so many people who are purposely using the system to get what they probably dont deserve....and it seems no one is going after these people or if they are,not enough is being done.....when you see a "poor" kid with 200.00 dollar Nikes on or he has an Ipod ,stuff like that kinda jades people.....there was a time when if you were poor.....you were fucking poor.....you had holes in your shoes.....hand me down clothes......you did not have a big TV, if you did it, did not work and you could not afford to get it fixed.....shit like that......the poor seem to be different today than what they were when i was growing up......the kids who were poor then did not have what the other kids had........ thats my take......

Americans know these are difficult days," Clinton said. "The U.S. strongly supports the Papandreou government in its determination to make the necessary reforms to put Greece on sound economic footing, making Greece competitive economically."

At the end of June, the Greek Parliament voted to implement another round of austerity measures in hopes of avoiding defaulting on the government's debt.

You'd be surprised at the quality of stuff that can be purchased at Goodwill. It is a little ridiculous to compare what happened during your childhood to now. We live in a disposable society and luckily for the poor a lot of disposers give to Goodwill.
