A pathetic bill by a pathetic congress. But, why should they bother to do their jobs when they know no matter how awful they are, they will still be reelected?
What America needs is TERM LIMITS not only on the President, but on all elected federal officials. Senators for two terms, Representatives for four terms would be a good start.
The problem was, Senators on both sides could not agree to what cuts should be made. Yes, there needs to be cuts, but from where and how much? The Dems are protecting Entitlements and the GOP is protecting Defense spending. The voted for what would pass at the last minute.
Do these cuts need to be decided?....Yes. Now they need to get together before the deficit limit and decide where and how much to cut. The House is a complete disaster with their RW extemists. Heaven knows what they will do...

Other than defense can you name one cut the radical left wing extremist in Congress both in the House and Senate would support?
The Senate has acted to avoid the immediate fiscal cliff, but this
negotiated agreement does little to address our deficits and it does
not raise enough revenue to put our country on a path to reduce our
long-term debt.
In coming weeks, we still must reach agreement on steps to generate
more revenues, make additional spending cuts, and strengthen and
reform our entitlement programs so successful programs like Medicare
and Social Security will still exist 30 years from now.
