That is a fact. But it's also a fact that didn't stop corporations from sending them our IP. Why would we keep sending it if it was so valuable? Corporations simply looked at it as a cost of doing business and decided the benefit was greater than the cost. You prefer big government decide this than those doing business with China? American consumers aren't blameless in this either. By choosing the cheapest goods possible, rather than going for quality and a "union label", they chose the Chinese slave labourers over their own neighbours and families.

As I've already stated, if corporations viewed the stolen property as so valuable, they would have stopped doing business with China. That's how the market deals with this issue. But corps clearly don't care so much because they continue to send it to China and do business there.

Had the government punished China in the first place when they started sending jobs overseas, instead of allowing them to claim the costs of shipping their equipment and technology in off-shoring your jobs as a deductible business expense. So companies got a big tax deduction AND lower wages going forward. For bottom line conscious corporate America, off-shoring was a "win/win" situation. They didn't even lower their prices, even though their costs were lower, so profits went up even more. There was no downside for corporate America.

Trump isn't punishing China. He's punishing American consumers for buying Chinese goods. The whole idea of tariffs is to make imported goods more expensive than locally produced goods. It's not working because so much of what Trump has put tariff's on are no longer manufactured in the US and there is no local production.

This is not the 1930's nor the 1980's. Our manufacturing has been dismantled. For war production alone we would be in trouble after a prolonged conflict. What do we have? Two places that we make naval ships! We have a major problem repairing and rehabbing ships also. We have to keep ordering ships to keep the naval yards we have open.
