How Conservatism Killed The GOP

McCain was a far better vote than the for the wacks from the far right.

I voted for McCain.

You're bragging about that?

The choice was about the party control of government being split between the two major parties. See? You're missing the forest for the trees and arguing with yourself. My vote for McCain on the ballot was not an endorsement of McCain or his policy proposals.

My vote had to do with the choices offered and my belief that the government works best in times of crisis when both major parties have something to offer and to lose.

I understand perfectly, Dainty. I always vote for people whose agenda I don't like. :booze:

no one of any importance has tried to push socialism in America

If you mean state ownership of business you are correct. No rational person believes it can work. They have reverted to a form of fascism (this was what I was getting at earlier) where private business is dictated to by the government. No rule of constitutional law, just looting as they please.

You are living in a dream world here. The government bailed out private big biz and will be pulling out it's stake as the business pay back the money. You not only misrepresent things, your hysteria over it is distasteful.

there is no form of fascism on the part of the Us government. There is within the GOP.

What do you call what happened to GM? They essentially ignored all bankruptcy laws, confiscated the company and gave it to the UAW

Dainty? Okay girlyman/boy.

In a general election we do not always get to vote for people we agree with. We get the party choice. We may agree with neither, so a vote is not always (if ever) about the individual.

The cult of personality might appeal to your feeble mind, but it does not appeal to your betters.

You are misrepresenting again. Your credibility is going south.

How is that not an accurate description of what happened?

Con`fis`ca´tion
n. 1. The act or process of taking property or condemning it to be taken, as forfeited to the public use.

--------------

Owning GM stock and selling it after being paid back and after stabilizing GM is not even close to being confiscation.

And how did they acquire those shares?

Maybe I'll let the WSJ answer that one:

GM Collapses Into Government's Arms
Second-Largest Industrial Bankruptcy in History; Obama Defends Intervention as CEO Asks Public for 'Another Chance'

How does that refute anything I said? Did I say Ronny made the Navy kick-ass or something?

Hey stupid.........you stated it was worth the deficits.

I'm telling you as someone who served during that time, it wasn't. It damn near broke the Navy.

I served during Reagan's tenure, in fact before and after.

the bulking up of all branches during the Reagan years was a double edged sword, aside from the deficits, I agree. We had a spike in training accidents etc. as cadre was stretched thin.

BUT, the 'worth' that has to be calculated too, was spending the soviets into the poor house which helped push them over the edge.

The mujahideen, a new Pope, and a Polish labor union boss had more to do with it. All Reagan wound up doing was to create the biggest waste, fraud, and abuse scandal in our history. The one thing that Reagan did was to tell the right wing to go pound sand, and began negotiation of zero option with the Soviets.

Is what I am talking about.

The alternative: bankruptcy. "The risk is greater today," GM President and Chief Executive Officer Fritz Henderson said Monday.

Interestingly enough, they just put out a new model that is going to re-open one of their factories, resulting in around 2,500 jobs being restored.

But of course......the GOP doesn't wanna hear that........

That's what the law says should happen. Sucks to be Ford. I own my own business and I can't even imagine the government coming and bailing out my competition right when I had them beat. Why even give a shit if the government is just going to bail you out in the end. What a crock of shit.

My point is the other poster is wrongly calling the rescue of an industry a confiscation.

Hey Little Redneck Bastard in NC.........you DO realize that talking about someone's family is a bannable offense, right?

I'd remarked that if you get rid of everyone that disagrees with you, you become inbred.

I then stated that the GOP is retarded, referring TO A FUCKING IDEOLOGY YOU STUPID FUCK.

YOU are the douchebag that referred to my sister in a very vile way. Based on what Dante has told you, you still don't get it. By the way, nowhere in my post was a reference to whatever the fuck spawned you.

Maybe I should refer this to Gunny.........Mods?

The law says that? I don't think so. And it was the government's job to save the economy when the nation and the world was in danger of economic collapse.
