I would think it would be a good thing to require healthcare providers to cover mental health care in light of this current tragedy.

    Its in the bill

What is the evidence Jared Loughner willingly sought it but could not get it?

The coverage will help many people and keep the country safer than it previously was.

Major Nidal Hasan had a great mental health benefit with the military.

    What good did it do?

Perhaps this would be a good time to appoint a bipartisan commission to study the viability of a health plan during this economic crisis, what should be the priorities in such a plan and experts in the medical field to discuss what doctors need to approve such a plan.

There is so much to consider in such a plan, we need to be sure we are not taking away plans of those who have them, and avoiding adding premium increases. No more waivers for sections of the populations and touching only those who need the coverage. Not free, but on a sliding scale rate.

We need both sides to be involved. By the time it is worked out, we might be able to afford it and more of Congress would be willing to appeal the roughshod bill that was passed.
