This guy is fast becoming my hero. Hold fast Mr. Wilson. One apology is enough.
And this will be the net result, not amongst the left but the middle will have sympathy for his outburst, especially if they were watching the president's speech.

You really think moderates are going to find this guy a hero for his trashy behavior?

No, but it would be a missed opportunity for Democrats to show they can and will rise above all this crap.

Democratic leaders are planning a House vote early next week on whether to admonish Republican Rep. Joe Wilson if he does not apologize on the House floor for yelling "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's health care address.

Brendan Daly, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, said Friday that party leaders decided they will likely move forward with a resolution of disapproval against Wilson if he doesn't apologize to Congress.

Wilson told Obama he was sorry shortly after the incident on Wednesday, but has refused requests to apologize on the House floor. Wilson's office says the congressman considers his initial apology sufficient. He has also been telling supporters he will continue to speak loudly about the issue and "not be muzzled."

Good for him. Obama is lying maybe he doesn't know it, but until he actually sits down and reads HR3200 he himself does not know what's in that white elephant of over 1,100 pages.

I don't think that it is too late for Harry Reid to apologize to President Bush, but take note of the double standard here. The up-roar from the left on Wilson's accusation and the total silence from the left on Harry Reids statement on national tv. Republicans are held to a much, much higher standard, probably due to the fact that we are considered to be much, much more intelligent. Which we are.:lol:

Publicly, no, because we still insist the office be respected even if we don't believe the man occupying it deserves the respect, but privately, yes, because we understand that Obama is a shameless, outrageous liar and we are glad to see him called on it, and because we recognize that however unpleasant Wilson's conduct may have seemed, he did manage to get the Dems to try to plug a loophole in their bills that would have allowed illegals to be covered.

Health care negotiators in the Senate pressed for a way to ensure that illegal immigrants can't get access to government-funded insurance, a contentious issue now front and center after a Republican congressman's outburst during President Barack Obama's speech.

The issue is one of several thorny problems that came up as a small group of negotiators on the Senate Finance Committee met Friday morning. Finance Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., is aiming to finalize legislation on Obama's health overhaul by next week — though whether it's bipartisan or not remains to be seen.

Members of the group said they thought they'd settled the question of illegal immigration, but it came to the fore this week when Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "You lie" at Obama during his speech Wednesday. Obama had said illegal immigrants wouldn't be covered under his health plan.

Senators said that's forced the committee to work on provisions verifying legal status before an individual can get coverage.

"We've always been there, but we have to make sure to get the right process and language," said Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, one member of the so-called Gang of Six of three Republicans and three Democrats whom Baucus is leading.

Such verification can be tricky. Many Democrats fear that verification procedures keep legal residents from getting insurance, and in the House, they rejected Republican attempts to add verification requirements to the House health care bill.

I think that moderates are leaving Obama because they find his behavior less than advertised in the election. Those who are informing themselves recognize a liar when their hear one, so to hear a single bold voice saying what they already know to be true confirms their growing opinion.

I hear they are building a scaffold out in back of the House for him.

why? don't they have a tree?

Let em have their lame dog & pony show. Common sense thinking Americans understand that it's time for all Democrats to be voted out of Congress. This will just backfire on them in the end. A mere pathetic attempt at distracting the people from focusing on Pelosi & Reid's miserable failed leadership. I'm just not buying their whole drama-queen act on this one. Hateful Liberals said far worse things about George Bush so their whole victim shtick thing is just a lame act in the end. I think most people do understand this. So on with the lame dog & pony show. No one cares.

Or perhaps you are so far to the left that the middle and far right have become indistinguishable to you. No matter, almost everyone on the left or in the middle feels betrayed by Obama's lies, although not always by the same lies. Those on the right don't feel betrayed because they never believed anything he said in the first place. Those of us who are opposed to covering illegal immigrants recognize that Wilson's rude behavior accomplished what no one else had been able to do: it forced the Dems to try to plug a loophole in the bills that might have allowed illegal immigrants to be covered.
