House Democrats plan to push for $15 federal minimum wage

If you work full-time, you should be able to support your family. its called the American dream!

If you're working full time, at a job you don't make $15 an hour or more...

you need to get a new job, or more education.

If you're working full time at McDonalds, dont' expect me to support your family.
my talking points from Ralph Nader havent arrived yet. i'll debate you later!

Long overdue

Pass the bill and make Republicans go on record for rejecting it

A Red State Raises Its Workers' Minimum Wage to $15

In one of the most surprising legislative twists in state government this year, North Carolina became the first state to implement -- and the first red state to approve -- an increase in the minimum wage for state workers to $15 an hour, or $31,200 a year.

Deepening the intrigue, the state's Republican-controlled legislature achieved this practically-overnight minimum-wage hike with no formal testimony or hearings, and with little support from Democratic legislators or the state's Democratic governor...

Fine, as long as there is no more WELFARE given out. If people now have a livable wage, they dont need fucking welfare...

The War on Poverty has cost $22 trillion -- three times more than what the government has spent on all wars in American history. Federal and state governments spend $1 trillion in taxpayer dollars on America's 80 means-tested welfare programs annually.

The federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour hasn’t increased since 2009 and is worth substantially less than the minimum wage was in the 1960s once adjusted for inflation, according to the Economic Policy Institute.

Ballot initiatives across the country to raise the minimum wage in states and cities have passed with broad public support. There hasn’t been a single loss on this issue since 1996, so some were not surprised to see the result in Arkansas. But what makes Arkansas stand out is that no other red state has gone this high.

Arizona was the only red state above $10 before this week’s election. Now Missouri and Arkansas are on their way to joining those ranks.

Conservative Arkansas could soon have the highest effective minimum wage in the country

That's not going to happen. Inflating wages above the market value of the labor will just result in inflation, and reduce the purchasing power of the $15/hr.

You can't fool Mother Economics.

If the Dems push such a bill, they know it will never make it past the Republican Senate.

Unlike the GOP 60+ fake repeals of Obamacare all those years, though, the Dems are NOT pretending. If they ever get full power, they will actually carry through on their promise.
It's scary how serious the Dems are when it comes to using the state to fuck us all over. When they threaten to do something, we should take their goose-stepping word for it.

They will try to confiscate all of our guns too. Believe them.

The dog-shit GOP can never be trusted to do jack shit. They love being the party in opposition because they can relax and fake-bitch about having no power. I fucking HATE that party!!!!

This is from a site 5 years ago. It is outdated, but it shows how corporate America thinks you can live on minimum wage. It was jointly put together by Mc Donalds and Visa.

Minimum wage in the United States is mandated at $7.25 per hour, according to the Department of Labor. Taking into account a full-time schedule, deductions for federal tax, social security and Medicare, the take-home pay is even less than the sample budget at $1,038.40. This sample take-home pay does not take into account state income taxes, which make take-home pay even lower.

First of all you need two jobs. Health insurance is $20 a month. Heating is zero. Food isn't included, but may be in the Monthly Spending Money: $27 a day for food, gas, cloths, etc.
