House bill looks to give president line-item veto

What makes any of you people think having a more powerful Executive is a good idea?

Imagine another incompetent conservative douchenozzle like Bush with the power to really screw things up.

Supreme Court has already ruled the Line item veto unconstitutional when Republicans passed it in the 90s. They need to amend the Constitution for it to work.

not in this case. The line item veto then was different, as explained in earlier posts.

Here, the president selects an item for removal... it goes back to congress who must hold an immediate yeah or neigh vote (no amendments, no filibuster allowed). if congress approves the line removal, they resubmit the original bill without the line item the president wanted removed... thus eliminating the constitutionality issue.

Congress must pass the new bill after the President uses the veto. Might pass.
