Thank you MM, it sure looks like a case of a simple misunderstanding that was brought about by an attempt to find the correct legal way to write the bill.
It was so immportant that it was in it that it took a full 3 days to find a legal way to do it.

The bill WOULD have been legal, with a amendment in it that expressly forbade the bonuses! Which is what Dodd initially said he wrote! The employees who were guaranteed those bonuses would then have a civil cause of action against AIG for the contractual obligation broken.attempt to find the correct legal way to write the bill.

Let him do so!Get a grip guys , Dodd had talked about before if this was a legal solution and the Feds asked tild him they werent sure the part was legal and it might keep it from passing. He took that as a recomendation to remove it.

anyone who is rich doesn't deserve it you know --they had to have done something wrong.
This tax really borders on immorailty if not completely crossing the line.
