Hospitals Eliminate 1 in 4 U.S. Emergency Rooms

Portable M.A.S.H. units!

I tend to think that it wouldn't be a bad idea necessarily; a lot of the medics and even a lot of the professionals higher up the healthcare pyramid have NO EMERGENCY CRITICAL CARE EXPERIENCE until they are put into a war zone.

I know the right wing will never stand for this use of our taxpayer dollars to treat the inner city underinsured but its a good idea. I don't know if you were trying to be funny or not but we have resources and we have a need for those resources....it seems like a perfect fit.

Why? I think letting the gangbangers die is a better use of tax dollars. They harm innocents, they provide nothing to the society they prey on, I say screw 'em let them croak.

I was thinking more about their innocent victims. But it's probably a bad idea on balance.

It's not just "gangbangers" who get shot in those neighborhoods you bigoted prick.

Adapt a Canadian or Japanese system. No for profit health care systems at all. We have a very low longevity compared to the Japanese and Canadians. And our infant mortality rate is third world. Cuba does better there than we do. The 'free market' is a failure in health care.

Hospitals Eliminate 1 in 4 U.S. Emergency Rooms Since 1990, Study Finds - Bloomberg

This is what happens when you force people to provide goods and services w/o compensaton.

They GET compensated. What on earth are you babbling about?

Sure they do. The hospitals are just closing the units because they hate making money, is that it?

I wish you idiots would learn what socialized medicine is because WE DON'T HAVE IT. :cuckoo:

Who said we did?

If dying sooner doesn't stop people from doing or not doing what I listed, I'm doubting any federal mandate would work better.

well it has worked when insurance companies have implemented it.

My only point was about the health stats the other poster was using, we don't live as long because we live a way less healthy lifestyle.

That's one of a few reasons and it's been pointed out to him 50,000 times, but he'd rather lie than admit he's wrong. Don't even bother with him.

Don't worry, the free market will solve everything...where there is a need for level one trauma; one will magically plop down from the sky due to the free markets.

Hey...wait a minute. The inner cities where crime is rampant often are the places where level one trauma centers are needed most. Last time I checked those inner city types didn't have much in the way of excellent insurance...or any insurance at all for that matter. Oh well, I'm sure there will be a free market solution to that problem as well.

The free market only works where it's allowed to operate. Emergency medicine is one are where the government has taken almost total control.

The "emergency medical treatment" act passed during the Reagan administration in 1986 provided emergency medical treatment including ambulance service for everyone including illegal aliens regardless of the ability to pay. Border states are required to give the best emergency treatment in the world to everyone regardless of compensation. At least the act should have provided payment to the hospital emergency room from the country of orgin of the patient but it didn't. Doctors and nurses and staff have to be paid so the only option for some hospitals is to eliminate the emergency room facilities.

Yes I know one of my nephews (innocent college kid walking out of a supermarket) was killed by one so I know first hand. I am all for protecting and saving the innocent bystanders but the gangbangers get no sympathy from me.

Yep and the border states have paid dearly for it. Dozens of hospitals in California have closed their ERs or closed entirely over just the past decade

Yes, the Japanese system is great. A former girlfriend is a nurse there. Average wait is 3-4 hours and if you are over 70 years old you are OK and pay nothing. However, if you are under 70 you are required to buy either government or private insurance. That doesn't get you a doctor though. Doctors are assigned by universities so big city hospitals which have a relationship with the universities get doctors. The small towns don't get them. If you don't pay for the insurance you den't get care period. Unlike the US where emergency rooms are required to treat you the Japanese ER's are not required. If you have no valid card you don't get treated. Her hospital has turned 6 or 7 patients away in the last few years, in the midst of heart attacks, who died as a result of no hospital taking them.

They usually shoot at little kids and other people not in gangs. You really wouldn't want these assholes to shoot their own people now would you? If one gang kill someone of another gang, it's usually an accident. They are at war with America in general.

My condolences; very sorry to hear that.

Really, how so...can you give me a sane, concise answer?

ah yes, people equating jacho to socialist regimes

how retarded

your er's have been closing for years, opting for 'acute care centers', or similar non-jacho entities

this is wholey because of a capitalist system being constrained to the point where it simply looks $$$$ to do so

so now, you'll bleed in the streets while the chopper comes (assuming the wheater cooperates) to take you to an ER far off....

and that ride will cost you $6-8K

so , argue on about who's loosing , or what lame partisanship applies here

you fools!
