The Germans and Japanese can't build them. They agreed not to when they signed the articles of surrender.

Why in the fuck is the US considered the only super power left in the world dip-shit? Because of our Navy.

BTW, every carrier has an expiration date. They need refitting every 5 years or they become foalting rust-buckets. They only have a life expectancy of 20-30 years. The Nimitiz is already getting too old to bother refitting.

When it comes to support ships those are getting old too. And what the fuck does this have to do with education. We're not paying for kids to fight wars. We're paying them to learn how to turn their backs on their own country and side with our enemies. How can we count on them to defend it?

Okay. That's stupid reason. They've been thriving, prosperous democracies for nearly 70 years now. I think we can forgive them.

And I don't want to end up like the other Super-Power, the USSR, bankrupting ourselves to show everyone how tough we are.

What should make us a superpower is our economic might. But under Republicans, we've lost manufacturing, we've spent ourselves 15 Trillion into a hole.

Then retire it and don't replace it. We don't need 11 of them. Maybe retire 3 and build one new one.

Maybe by actually having a country that works for them and not the 1%. Just saying.

Frankly, I don't know why any poor person would join the military other than the economic motive.

Your idea of a strong America is actually a weak America.

    Just as I said.

Joe loathes the idea of America being a superpower. He, like all leftists, thinks we should be taken down a notch or two or nine.

After all, that would be "fair".

    Because not everyone hates America.

I know you have trouble understanding that concept.

They believe that if America is weak we're less threatening, and they think this will keep other countries from attacking our interests or our nation.

Democrats use this as an excuse to steal from national defense so they can buy votes in the black community, Hispanic community, or any group that has a hand out. They tear down our military and put us in a terrible position then scream like Banshies when the GOP starts rebuilding what they tore down.

It must be a terrible thing to have such a simplistic world-view. Really -- believing other nations will magically start liking us if we present our soft underbelly.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to vote Democrat.

Why do you think they always patronize young people, the illiterate, and people that can be easily manipulated?

Yawn, guy, we are like the guy who buys the big house and the big porsche and he's swimming in debt he can't pay off because he's trying to impress people.

That guy isn't rich any more than we are a super power.

We have nukes. No one is going to fuck with our territory. Why we are spending a trillion a year to play "Hall Monitor" in the middle east is truly bizarre.

Not that you'd be doing that. That's what we got Poor People for.

No, I just don't think we've fought a war over OUR interests since WWII. Maybe Korea if I'm in a generous mood.

    Vietnam wasn't in our interest.
    Kuwait wasn't in our interest.
    Iraq wasn't in our interest.
While killing Bin Laden was in our interest, getting in the middle of Afghanistan's 30 year civil war wasn't.
Propping up Israel isn't in our interest.

    What is in our interest.

    Actually paying down our debt.
    Repairing our infrastructure.
    Rebuilding our industry and manufacturing.

That's what makes us a great power.
