Hope & Change Update: Papa Obama administration denies Armenians holocaust or Another campaign promise broken

BBC:

The Obama administration has said it will seek to block a controversial bill describing as genocide the World War I killing of Armenians by Turks.

A congressional panel on Thursday approved the resolution, paving the way for a possible vote by the House

The resolution - approved by 23 votes to 22 by the committee - calls on President Barack Obama to ensure that US foreign policy reflects an understanding of the "genocide" and to label the killings of Armenians as such.

During his campaign for the 2008 election, Mr Obama promised to brand the mass killings genocide.

Mrs Clinton has acknowledged his administration's change of opinion on the issue, saying circumstances had "changed in very significant ways".

All the problems we have today and people want to bring something up from WWI?

Look at Iraq. There used to be an estimated 1.4 million Christians in Iraq. Now there are 0.4 million. How come no one cares about that missing "million"?

I'm not feeling this at all.

Neither is anyone else except some Armenians. So the question is why the Dums feel the need to press this issue? Second question, why did Obama promise to do this as a candidate but now is backing off? What has changed? The fact that he is president?

Yet another broken campaign promise by BarryO. How many is this now?

It was important enough for Papa Obama to promise he would

If not so important then why not allow the congressional act stand?

Of course the left brings up slavery to explain issues of today, but this is
not relevant?

Funny how that works

Papa Obama:

"Two years ago, I criticized the Secretary of State for the firing of U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, John Evans, after he properly used the term 'genocide' to describe Turkey's slaughter of thousands of Armenians starting in 1915. … as President I will recognize the Armenian Genocide."

Before Obama became president, Turkey wasn't really much of a player. Because Bush was "going it pretty much alone".

Things change,

Since that time, Obama has rallied the support of NATO, which Bush mostly lost with is ill advised invasion of Iraq and the lack of WMDs. Obama understands the importance of "allies".

Of course, instead of looking at what's best for the US, at seeing a president who has been more successful in a year fighting al Qaeda than the previous administration in 8 years - remember, there was NO al Qaeda in Iraq until we let them in, all the right wants to do is whine that Obama broke a campaign promise.

And who knows, maybe before the end of his term, he might still make such a statement. He's only been in office a year.

Come on Republicans. You had 8 years. And everything you guys touched turned to shit. You were like "Midas". Give the black guy a chance.

Too funny

the best you can come up with all of Papa Obama's failures and broken promises

is Blame Bush?

Papa Obama is getting a little "long in the tooth" to keep using this

But hey, it is your story and you can tell it any way you want
:eusa_whistle:

By the way, this is just another Bush policy that Papa Obama is following

Let me guess- Bush made him do it
lol

Little did they know that the Democrats were busy undermining everything on purpose.

By the way.....the GOP never had complete control of Congress. They held the House and Senate only once...for two years. And the Dems filibustered everything they did.

So your point is moot.

It is rather pathetic the "excuses" the left will make for Papa Obama
Nothing is his fault

so when he was running he didn't recognize the importance of turkey and nato...but once he became president the light went on.....

Very sad how the left and the MSM constantly make excuses for him.

As we are starting to see with the failures and broken promises of the Obama administration,
It can very bad for any democracy to not question their leaders

Reminds me,

MSM soft treatment of Obama-show of support or soft bigotry of low expectations?

When one looks at the favorite treatment that Papa Obama gets in the MSM, it seems that the MSM is just supporting him because they, as well, are mostly liberal.

But in retrospect, when ones considers the approach that most white liberals take when it comes to minorities in the US, affirmative action; lowered expectations etc.

The question becomes, is the liberal press just showing "true" support for Papa Obama's failed policies or are they showing the liberal's soft bigotry of low expectations that they have for minorities in general? Of course, by keeping the bar low, it will be easier for Papa Obama to "pass the test"

I'm trying to figure out what makes you guys lie so much? Is it a requirement for being a member of the Republican Party?

Bush had nearly a 90% positive rating with the American people, the highest in history. That means he had the support of a lot of Democrats. But through his incompetence and ineptitude, he lost that and left office with a 22% rating. That means a lot of Republicans were also disgusted with him. That's just the truth. That's the way it is. That's history. Go ahead, deny, deny, deny. You guys know it's true. You are only lying to yourselves. Your pathetic selves.

As far as the GOP not having control of congress? They passed a 1.8 trillion dollar tax cut through reconciliation. 1.8 TRILLION. More than HALF to the top 5%. Can you imagine less than 5% of the American taxpayers (that's taxpayers - not people) getting a trillion dollars? And there were TWO WARS going on? How would they get paid for? Hey liars, why don't you jerks ever talk about that? Huh? Well?
Thought so.

You guys think you are so smug and smart, but when a little truth is dropped on you tiny heads, you crawl back under that rock, because all Republicans know, "The sky is falling".

Do Papa Obama's broken campaign promises count as lies?

It appears that it might be a requirement for candidates of the Democratic Party:eusa_whistle:

Republicans tell lies.......So your theory is two wrongs make a right (it is actually three lefts lol)
(another poor attempt to excuse away Papa Obama's actions)

So the "Hope and Change", what many of us knew before the election and now more are seeing after the election,

is a bunch of crap

Boy, what a surprise
:eusa_angel:

You talk about campaigns as if they were Moses' Ten Commandments etched in stone. What a simple world it would be if everything were so, well, "simple".

I have lost track of all of his broken promises- too many to count.

Everybody realizes that campaign promises do not always pan out for a variety of reasons.
But seldom has there been a candidate who has reneged on virtually ALL of his promises. If Americans feel like they were sold a bill of goods one could well understand why. Obama ran as a moderate centrist and has tried to govern as a progrssive. No wonder his poll numbers are falling off a cliff.
