    You have to keep in mind that K-9 soldiers are used for a couple of reasons. First of all they can be trained to sniff out explosives and sadly, unlike human counterparts they are expendable. It should be noted that 34 police K-9 officers died in the line of duty in 2016.

    I would like to assume those police departments honored their fallen four legged partners, too.

    If dogs save human lives I'd rather risk them in "petty squabbles" and military escapades than humans. You can breed a hundred replacements and train them in a year.
