Holy Crap! Mike Huckabee sounds like a Democrat

You thinking this makes someone sound "Democrat" is exactly why I say that the 2-party system, and the left/right bullshit arguing that comes with it, is a paradigm.

Division is what killed this country.

The Republican Party doesn't HAVE to be hijacked by corporate USA if American voters don't want it to be. If Republicans vote Romney, or Fred, or Rudy into office, than that means that the Republican voters in this country WANT the party to be the corporate party.

Once upon a time, George Washington warned us about such a time in his farewell address.

The Republican Party has been hijacked by the Christian right more then anything. Which is why someone like Romney who is the Republican's best bet will never get the nomination. Too many of them choose religion over policy. That's their choice though, you get what you vote for as a majority.

The Libertarian party could emerge and overtake the Republican party but they hold too many extreme views for too many people. Which is why Ron Paul didn't get anywhere near the nomination.

My guess is that within the next ten years; a third party will emerge that is truly Conservative and not basing it's party issues off on religion. Which basically means: The Christian Right of the Republican Party and The Conservative wing of the Republican party are splitting up.

Personally though? I dislike political parties in general and believe they shouldn't exist. They encourage diversity and barriers between not only politicians but fellow Americans.

Were you just trying to be facetious? Huckabee has always been a Republican.

That's true J.

Huckabee is a nut too.

I know it may of been due to the times, but in 1992 he supported isolating AIDS patient from the general population.

He has a likable personality, but the man's views are :cuckoo:.

He has a likable personality.

I disagree. I met him on two separate occasions, and I didn't like him either one. When he cut out millions of dollars worth of scholarships in the state of Arkansas, he lost any ounce of respect he ever had with me.

Well I don't live in Arkansas so obviously I wouldn't know him personally enough to know his personality.

But on TV, he does have a likable personality. Doesn't mean he's a nice guy though in general.

Appearances can be deceiving. :eusa_whistle:

There are some who will vote R if they took up the nazi platform.
They would vote for anything the party said out of name loyalty.

They think its like being a football fan and that to be a good fan you support the team even when they do everything wrong.

I'm just curious; are you saying there are no Democrats like that? Let's get serious here. Probably 85% of voters affiliated with either major party vote the party line in every election, whether they are Democrats or Republicans.
Who the hell are you trying to kid?

And there are some that will still vote Democrat even if they took up a Communist platform.

You keep blaming things on the Republicans when, if you look at the issue correctly, you'd see it's the fault of the two party system as a whole.

You need to realize that the Democrats are just as much to blame for this kind of thinking as the Republicans are.

Voters are to blame for not electing representatives who will actually work for the people. There is also the small matter of most voters only wanting what is best for them, so they don't want to hear the truth. When a politician tells us that we need to make serious changes to SS and Medicare in order to keep it solvent for the long term, the voters don't want to hear that. So what do they do? They elect the other politician that tells them everything will be fine with SS and Medicare. As long as the voter feels secure in knowing that he/she won't have to make some type of sacrifice, then that will determine who they will vote for.

Then abandon the Dems and Reps and vote Green, Reform or Libertarian!!

""OH WAIT!!--those guys can't win!! So I am going to vote Dem/Rep!!""

...............And the cycle repeats!! Has anyone ever thought that the inability of a third party winning is more based on propaganda than actuality?

There are so many things going against independent and third party candidates that it truly is just about impossible. However, voters won't seriously look at alternatives within their own parties. Unless a pol tows the party line, they're likely to be ridiculed and ignored. Look at Ron Paul this past year. I wasn't a big fan of his, but a lot of things he said made sense.

If we want true change, all it will take is for the voters to actually think a little and quit listening to the 30 second sound bits we get in commercials. Money doesn't have to be the deciding factor as to who wins every election.

Yeah cause supportng businesses is so damn evil.

And Huckabee is a Democrat-lite. Always has been. But maybe someday he will find conservatism.

The only thing conservative about Huckabee is his stand on social issues. Funny thing is, as a conservative, I've always thought that conservatives wanted as little government interference as possible in our daily lives, yet social Conservatives seem to want to tell everyone what they can and can't do.

The problem is third parties are almost always lunatic fringe parties. Greens, Libertarians, Socialists, Communists, Reform....all a collection of screwballs.

A viable third party would be a CENTRIST party, based in PRAGMATISM, not ideology. You know you've hit the "sweet spot" when the loons on both sides are pissed.

Scholarships for what? Basket Weaving?

I know this will sound very shallow, and I admit that it is, but I would have a serious problem voting for some southern guy named Huckabee.Who's next, President Gump?

If you are still focusing on getting third parties into federal offices, then you are a screwball. Local politics may be your best bet.
