Wherever
Is anyone really in that Christmas spirit yet? Im still not, I suppose because I have been so busy and anxious trying to get everything done that I just havent' been able to stop, take a breather and enjoy the holidays.

Anyone else feel like that??

i'm not - mostly because I'm weary of Christmas equating to 'giving shit'. I'm tired of giving shit to people 'just because it's christmas'. I'm tired of getting together with people 'because it's christmas' NOT because 'I particularly want to be there'. I'm tired of sending Xmas cards to people 'simply because they sent one to US.'

Ba-humbug. :(

I know what you mean, Bonnie. We women run around trying to make everything perfect, and end up exhausted and, in my case, with headaches.

Things that help me get into the season: I am reading a book about the origins of our most well-known Christmas carols, we've been to a sing-along, and tonight is our daughter's Christmas concert at school.

Have you ever been to Longwood Gardens at Christmas time? They have acres of lighted trees outdoors in every color there is, plus poinsettias everywhere indoors. Try to take some time and go. You deserve it!

Exactly!

I think I will probably be in a better mood once christmas actually gets here, and I can relax and enjoy everything.

It's just too much though, yesterday I was doing last minute errands and I saw 3 different car accidents.

Kids certainly help. I put little gift bags together for everyone else, they feel like they've been "shopped" for.

I know how you guys feel. In eighth grade I had this really bad, and was really mad Christmas eve cause I hadnt enjoyed the days before like i had the years before. Looking back on Christmas 8th grade, it's one of the better Christmases I've had, simply because the time I spent beforehand and afterward were really memorable. You tend to remember things differently than they atually were, but yeah it's frusterating right now. Just bust out the holiday music and rock around the Christmas tree. Oh sh--, four days!!

Where is Longwood Gardens?? That sounds like just what I need.

My holiday spirits are flagging also. My dad went into the hospital around 1:30 a.m. Monday, still there. We had to call 911. It didn't look all that serious, but now looking moreso.

I'm supposed to have Christmas here. Got the carpets cleaned, kids have put up tree and lights. Cleaning is getting done. Oh yea, I still need to get to the stores.

Well I'm going to put on some Christmas music and see if that helps.

What's going on with your Dad?? :(

Well I made an executive decision. Instead of making my homemade meatballs/sauce and Lasagna for the family Im going to have them catered from my favorite Italian restaurant. That will save me much needed time, who knows I may even have time to get a massage, that should take away the crankiness :)

It's his heart, well actually he went in for vertigo. They got the vertigo stopped with some meds, but they put him to sleep or they would have released him from emergency around 6 a.m. But he really couldn't stay awake and he weighs like 200 and I'm about 1/2 that. The doc said, "I'll just admit him."

Now he's had heart problems for the past 10 years or so. He also has kidney problems caused by some meds given for congestive heart failure. If you remember he had a pacemaker put in last year. He has a slew of cardiologists-specialist of specialty. Anyhow, once in the hospital, they started running some tests, seems the heart wasn't pumping enough. So today they did a kidney test, then a 'special' type of carotic (sic?) angiogram because the dyes can hurt the kidneys. His last EKG was at the end of Oct. the heart was pumping at 55%. Today it's at 34%. The angiogram turned out better than expected, so that meds will care for the plaque buildup.

Problem is the docs can't figure out why his bloodpressure is fine, the pacemaker keeps the heart rate fine, but the heart seems to be weakening. So they are going to redo the kidney test tomorrow and do an angiogram on another artery.

My dad is the world's worst patient-hell he's not even a good visitor in the hospital. Not a happy camper. So I'm trying to figure out how to not fall apart, so I can get things done. And visit him and talk to the docs and call the relatives. Oh yeah, I think I'm buying cookies at the bakery! It's been a hell of a few years and at Christmas...

I don't blame him I hate hospitals. Boy you have your hands full, Id say buying the cookies is a good idea.

I hope it all turns out okay for him. And hopefully he will be out before Christmas.

Working at The UPS Store during Christmas = no holiday spirit whatsoever. For me, anyway.

Sorry about your father, Kathianne...

Boy, do I feel like a whiner for being stressed over cookies, school parties, and cleaning...
