Hockey is not a major sport in the USA

It's one of the four major sports in this country, fact. But this is just another ginny troll thread.

Anyways, I'm kind of sweating about my Habs right now. :doubt:

Why, they have 83 points, will probably end up 6th seed and will be in the playoffs. Being 8th seed worked out pretty well for them last year, unless you live in Montreal...where anything less than their 25th Stanley Cup is a failed season.

Tell that to the 18,000 people in Buffalo who will show up at the HSBC Arena on the 24th for a memorial service for Richard Martin, a member of the famed French Connection.

From the Buffalo Sabres:

On Feb. 23, new Sabres owner Terry Pegula, second from right, posed with 'French Connection' members Rene Robert (14), Rick Martin (7) and Gilbert Perreault (11).

Rick Martin: A connection lost forever

Rene Robert said it felt like he was trapped in a bad dream. At about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, the former Sabres star was awakened by a telephone call in Florida, where he was visiting his daughter. His brother, Real, the eldest of his nine siblings and an accomplished musician, had died of a heart attack in Montreal.

Robert was still absorbing that bad news when he got another staggering call early that afternoon. Rick Martin, his former linemate on the famed French Connection, had suffered a fatal heart attack while driving in his car in Clarence.

Today, a legion of Sabres fans mourns the loss of Martin, a rare combination of athletic ability and charm. The people who knew Martin best will tell you his gift for scoring goals was matched only by his talent for laughter and good fun.

"Oh, yeah," Perreault said from his home in Victoriaville. "Rico and his jokes. He knew about 2,000 jokes, and he remembered them all, too. Let me put it this way: You'll never be able to replace him on the golf course. He was a joy to play with, because there was never a dull moment. I'm going to miss him dearly."

Martin was a wondrous talent who scored 44 goals as a rookie and averaged 47 goals over his first five seasons. He touched the community with his charity work and his lively personality in charity golf outings. Apparently, he didn't know how to say no.

I agree. I am especially confused about ice hockey in Los Angeles. :cuckoo: That is just plain un natural.

We could disagree about just about anything and still be Bro's...but Hockey...

This could cause a rift...

Blow me Lumpy!!! I wore out my first two pairs of hockey skates. What the hell do ya think us kids played in the winter on Orcas Island ya goof!!! ???? How much farther north do ya think ya can get in the contiguous states?????? Take a look at a map. I could literaly see Canada from one of the hills in my back yard. We were North of Victoria BC.

Mapquest "West Sound Washington" Much of the land at the very end of West Sound across to the North shore of Orcas was my families property.

Blow Me..!!... I'll pass on that...

I know where Orca's Island is.. I have a relative that owned a carpet store there...

My Aunt lives in Nanaimo.. I've driven around Vancouver Island a few times and no.. not for those tricky mushrooms...

So a rink rat... huh.. Same here, my brother managed an ice rink in S. California..

Rink rat?...Not so much. We used to set up goals on frozen lakes and ponds. I've skated on a few rinks but never played hockey in one of them man made ice houses. Hockey is meant to be played out doors in the elements! It's like baseball...fun to play...boring to watch.

I'm from the sticks Lumpy! Here is a pic from my front yard.

"Enough"? What does that even mean? :cuckoo:

I never figured you for one of them socialist bitches.

Well.. hasn't Montreal won the Stanley Cup like 40 times?

It's been almost 20 years dude! Not "enough", imo.

But to be serious, I do expect to see Price & Co lift the Cup within the next few years. They are a good team, it's just that unlike a lot of Hab fans I can accept we're not the best in the East. Plus we've got a bunch of solid players on day-to-day right now. :dunno:

Hopefully Chara's head gets put on a Bell Centre turnbuckle as we advance through the first round. :eusa_clap:

/shit-talking the New England douches on this board

I'm just hoping the Sharks don't choke again.. sheesh..
