Hobby Lobby may close all of its stores

Completely bogus illogic.

And yet you can't tell me why. You want to argue the logic or illogic of my point, say something intelligent and substantive.

If you are so unintelligent that you fail to see the difference between being forced to buy a product that violates your religious beliefs and one of your employees using money to do something immoral, I can't help you.

Not only that, but an employer may fire an employee who violates the company's moral standards. Obama and his apologists would probably like to stop that practice, too.

In other words you have nothing. So please shut up.

An employer buys the labor of his employees. Whether he pays them with cash, that could be used to buy medication, or whether he pays them with an insurance policy that could be used to buy the same medication,

is a distinction without a difference.

Hobby Lobby is already making abortion available to its employees when it gives them a PAYCHECK,

which can be turned into CASH, which can be used to pay for an ABORTION, and Hobby Lobby cannot in any way prevent that.

If Hobby Lobby is capable in good conscience of giving its employees the money to pay for an abortion, if an employee so chooses to use that money,

then there is no violation of conscience if Hobby Lobby provides insurance coverage that can be effectively redeemed for medication that Hobby Lobby thinks causes abortions.

Case closed.

Completely bogus illogic. I'm sure if you spent more than 2 seconds actually thinking, you would see the giant holes in it.

I completely see the logic

Your paycheck, health insurance, vacation time, sick time all are part of total employee compensation

How an employee chooses to use her health insurance is her business. Some religions object to sterilization procedures. Should an employer be able to tell you you can't get your tubes tied? Same goes for her paycheck, can they tell her what she can use that for? Will Hobby Lobby deny sick leave if an employee uses the time to recuperate from an abortion?

How a company chooses to compensate their employees is their business.

Unless you are a democrat of course, then, for some asinine reason, it the GOVERNMENTS business.

An employer cannot tell you not to get your tubes tied but he damn sure should be able to abstain from providing insurance to cover that. He also cannot tell you where to live or who to marry but he certainly does not have to pay for the hose you live in or cover your marriage. If you want those things, you spend YOUR money rather than demanding that the employer pays for it.

Gee, I wonder what would have happened if this company had been Muslim?

Crickets.

Did you side with Muslim cab drivers when they demanded that they not be required to transport alcoholic beverages in their cabs?

Not TK but I will interject an answer here.

Are they an independent business (most cabbies are) then I know I would support whatever they wanted as a restriction on their fares, that is there right. Might cause them to go out of business but hey, still there right.

AFAIK, such a move has not been come to an end. There are many airports placing restrictions on this but the court cases range from 2006 all the way to 2013.

Most cabbies?

Where?

In NYC most cabbies drive for a company.

.

Wrong. You can start with minimum wage laws, overtime laws, and go from there...

That would work if Hobby Lobby wasn't lying about Plan B etc..

The author of the piece is somewhat ignorant about Plan B. It is a contraceptive. However, the 5-day-after pill is an abortifacient. While the 5-day-after pill is not yet mandated, it is probably just a matter of time before it is if no one puts up a fight right here, right now.

Nevertheless, some religious people are opposed to contraceptives, not just abortifacients, and they should not be forced to pay for contraceptives against their religious beliefs.

You are permitting an extremely dangerous precedent by going along with this just because you happen to like this particular mandate at this time. I am not opposed to contraceptives, but I am very, very much opposed to government mandates forcing people to do things they would not otherwise do, particularly those that violate religious beliefs.

It is sickening to see people being okay with this.

Like a Muslim woman not wanting to take off her veil for a driver's license photo?

Yes, just like that.

I had a photo-less driver's license for years when I was active duty.

An insurance policy is in effect a voucher which can be redeemed to pay for certain goods and services.

A paycheck is also in effect a voucher that can be redeemed for cash, and then used to pay for certain goods and services.

If both of the above can be redeemed for some sort of birth control bill that someone's religion opposes,

then the faithful practitioner of that religion should insist on not having to provide either his employees.

And that was done to exempt you from the law because you wear a veil?

What kind of "Christian" want to force more unwanted and poor children into the population but refuses to feed or care for them?

It's sickening that these people still call themselves Christians.

Christians are not forcing women to fuck their brains out without contraception. I don't know how you ever got that idea into your head.

I'll tell you what is sickening. This whole blackmail scheme you have going. "Pay for my birth control or pay for my kid, or I will kill it."

Stop abdicating personal responsibility for your own actions. Don't be asking the government to make your personal decisions for you. That is the most retarded thing you could ever do.

so they should violate their principles or pay the fines which may bankrupt them?

Religious beliefs are not nonsense, murdering unborn children is wrong no matter when or how you do it.

aren't you glad that your mother was pro-life?

Obama doesnt care ..
He has proven that over and over
More american jobs, and an american company destroyed by Obama and his marxist policies.

>> By David Green, the founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.
>>
>> When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames.. Our first retail store wasn't much bigger than most people's living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God's word.
>>
>> From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation's largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.
>>
>> We're Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I've always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God's laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that's what we've tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week's biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest.
>>
>> We believe that it is by God's grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We've not only added jobs in a weak economy, we've raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.
>>
>> But now, our government threatens to change all of that.
>>
>> A new government healthcare mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don't pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don't cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs.
>>
>> It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one.
>>
>> If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.
>> Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy.
>> Our government threatens to fine a company that's raised wages four years running.
>>
>> Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It's not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it's the same for everybody. But that's not true.
>>
>> The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won't exempt them for reasons of religious belief.
>>
>> So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don't like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.
>>
>> My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult.
>>
>> The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that's a choice no American and no American business should have to make.
>>
>> The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian organizations including the Catholic church.
>>
>> Since you will not see this in the liberal media, please pass this on to all your contacts.
>>
>>
>> Sincerely,
>> David Green
