History of Climate Science

Mr. Flacaltenn, just where do you find anyone of credibility stating that the climate reacts instantaneously to thermal forcings?

Mr. Billy Bob, the science is very well settled. The absorption spectra of the GHGs establishes that the more of them you put into the atmosphere, the more outgoing energy will be intercepted and retained.

"The absorption spectra of the GHGs establishes that the more of them you put into the atmosphere, the more outgoing energy will be intercepted and retaine"

Old socks, where is this evidence? I know that Frank and I have consistently asked yourself and all of your other ducklings where the evidence is at. Show us how much IR 10 PPM of CO2 holds, let's see the test results when added to existing 280 PPM of CO2 as well. Simple yes or no question, do you have those figures or not? If you do not, then you sir stated something without any actual knowledge, hmmmmmm... what would that make that statement? a lie?

BTW, Herr Koch did the experiment and showed you're statement wrong. So, I'm waiting for the counter experiment that proves your claim.

No, it was spoken like someone with an objective and informed understanding. You Mr Muhammad, make nothing but an ad hominem attack. How should we characterize that?

You seem to avoid most of the technical discussion. Do you have an opinion on carbon dioxide and the greenhouse effect? To address one of Isaac Newton's points, what do you think to be the effective lifetime of CO2 in the Earth's atmosphere? That is, were we to instantly reduce our emissions to the levels of 1750, how long do you believe it would take to get the atmospheric levels back down to 280 ppm?

"were we to instantly reduce our emissions to the levels of 1750, how long do you believe it would take to get the atmospheric levels back down to 280 ppm?"

Why do we need to go back to that PPM? you've never ever once proved anything about the dangers of CO2 added on top of 280. Show us the floors wide open for your presentation! Let's see glory!!

Gore Rule invoked. Ian forfeits the thread for the deniers.

Well, that certainly proves my point. The Warmers get upset if Gore's name is even mentioned. Did you have the same distain for him when he collected his Oscar or Nobel prize?

We we ignoring him at that time, yes.

I guess you have been consistent, though, as you've always been fixated on Gore. Cults need to create enemies to rally the faithful against.

Get educated people.
...

... about Milankovich cycles, oceanic oscillations, solar activity, chaos theory, the past few interglacial periods, and common fallacies in statistics.

Get educated by actually looking under the hood of some of these studies.

Get educated about the IPCC as a political body.

Look at the budgets and funding of NOAA, NASA and the EPA, and the stated justification for that funding.

And yes, study CO2. Study the logarithmic nature of CO2 forcing, including the law of diminishing returns where ppm needs to double for every added degree Celsius of warming. Study the unsettled speculative theory of amplifiers (does more CO2 always lead to more water vapor?).

Whatever you do, don't put on heavy blinders that cause you to mentally reduce "climate change" to merely "the effect of atmospheric CO2 on warming". That's like reducing the entire sport of football to place kicking.

The denier cult is busy producing false information at the bidding of the energy industry.

There is no debate. The science on Global Warming has been settled among the PH.D's of the world for he last 15 years. The debate ended long ago.

Global Warming is real and accelerating. There is no debate.

What was the value for climate sensitivity ten years ago when Gore was winning Oscars and Nobel Prizes for his global warming fairy tales? Settled science is not so settled.

BTW, what ever happened to Al Gore? Inconvenient mistakes seem to disappear from the global warming Scripture.

Who's Algore? Who cares.

PH.d's around the world settled the science on this 15 years ago. Global Warming is real and accelerating.

There is no debate.

Introduction - Summary

Global Warming Timeline Timeline - Of note 1989, 2000, 2001 and forward. But well worth reading the whole thing.

Global Warming is not something anyone wants to be real. But it is. And the clock is ticking on our ability to avert the worst affects.

Even if ALL of the human produced greenhouse gases stopped being put into the atmosphere tomorrow, the effects of what is already in the atmosphere would continue for hundreds or thousands of years.

Get educated people. This isn't a political matter AT ALL.

It isn't political? Are you high? The WHOLE thing is political! The governments of the world want to control every aspect of your life from what you can eat to how you can travel to what sort of house you can live in, all under the auspices of "environmentalism" and you claim it's not political....dude, you're a moron.

There you have it folks, a vast one world conspiracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me, Mr. Westwall, is it the Illumati? The Masons? Left over Nazi's operating from secret cells? Dirty pinko Commies? Who is it, oh wise one?

Vast conspiracies, the last refuge of total idiots that cannot face reality.

Keep us informed on all this, Mr. Westwall.

And yet what I posted is factual and you are merely blowing smoke up your own ass. Thanks for making that so plain for all to see!

Since you didn't post who the directors of this vast worldwide conspiracy are, we need to know what flavor of smoke you are trying to blow up everybodys ass.

Yes or no, the "solution" to the "global warming problem" consists of massive government control and reducing the standard of living for all first world peoples...other than the wealthy elites of course.

Yes or no, up your ass, you silly old man. That is not the choice. And the solution is already being worked out. Just because you do not like individuals declaring independence of the big utilities and energy corporations, does not mean the that the rest of us are going to follow your dictates.

In Germany, we see many municipalities telling the big utilities to take a hike, investing in renewables, and making their access to power more stable and cheaper.

If by government control, you mean governments around the world telling the energy corporations that they cannot continue to dump GHGs into the atmosphere, you are correct. So let your little heart just bleed for the multi-billion dollar corporations. The rest of us want to leave a better world for our descendents, not one in which a changing climate makes the very food that we depend on a chancy proposition.

So, don't play court room 'yes or no' games with me, you old fool. You are the one that is yelling 'vast worldwide conspiracy'. Really, the problem is your half vast rightwingnut ideology.

C'mon chicken. What are the solutions to the "global warming problem"? Use your own words and tell us what needs to be done to "save the planet". C'mon bigmouth. Let's hear them.

Very simple. Stop adding GHGs. Replace fossil fuels with renewables. Barring a breakthrough in fusion, that is the choice for energy. Replace coal first, then natural gas for the generation of electricity. Do as much as possible to switch from ICE powered vehicles to either battery or hydrogen powered vehicles. Aid other nations in making the switch, especially third world nations. In our own interest.

Now none of that is going to prevent the consequences that are already in the pipeline. Higher sea levels, increasing ocean acidity affecting the amount of food we get from the ocean. A dicer climate will make food availability a problem for many parts of the world, and that must be addressed by all. Problems like that created by the drying out of the forests and increased bug kill will have to be addressed as well.

All of this means spending money. So taxes will have to be raised.

We already have the technology to do most of this. All we need is the political will, and wisdom not to deny what is obvious to all.

Makes a bit more sense than blaming everything on some vast amorphous worldwide conspiracy. Of course, if you wish to do nothing, then go with your conspiracy.

And how do plan on getting people to spend all that money? Taxes being raised is cute and all, but the desire to put solar modules on every roof is a non starter. People simply won't, or can't do it. The taxes going up is a given and is always the first bit of control a government possesses now isn't it.

It's hard for people do do anything when they have no money because the government has taxed it away from them.

Thank you for confirming my statement.

Green energy is making power cheaper in Germany? Can you prove that?
