Hillary wants common ground with Pro-life movement

Bill Clinton's famous statement, "I want abortion to be safe and rare", is a classic example of meaningless, pandering doubletalk. If abortion is not - IN AND OF ITSELF - morally reprehensible, why should liberals care whether or not it's rare (It's not, and they don't.)?

Hillary may have learned the finer points of duplicity from the master (not that she needed much help), but there's something else to consider here. That Bill was so successful at dodging bullets is - more than anything - a testament to the power once enjoyed by the Old Media. Keeping the Clintons out of orange jumpsuits was their last hurrah. They just don't have that kind of pull anymore.

Two very excellent points there!!

Yup... she wants to be your next President. She knows why the dems are losing, and is smart enough to do the opposite, now that President Bush is in his second term, it's time for her to start her march for the White House.

Just remember, this bitch will SAY and DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to get what and where she wants.

In a speech to about 1000 abortion rights supporters near the New York State Capitol, Mrs Clinton firmly restated her support for the Supreme Court's ruling in Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion nationwide in 1973. But then she quickly shifted gears, offering warm words to opponents of legalized abortion and praising the influence of "religious and moral values" on delaying teenage girls from becoming sexually active.

"There is an opportunity for people of good faith to find common ground in this debate-we should be able to agree that we want every child born in this country to be wanted, cherished, and loved," Mre Clinton said

Mrs Clinton, widely seen as a possible candidate for the Democratic Part's presidential nomination in 2008, appeared to be reaching out beyond traditional core Democrats who support abortion rights. she did so by not by changing her political stands ,but by underscoring her views in preventing unplanned pregnancies, promoting adoption, recognizing the influence of religion in abstinence and championing what she has long called "teenage celibacy."

Boy she really learned something from this last election!
Im a tad skeptical with this :bsflag:

The conservative's attitude towards abortion is quite simple. Yes, lets save the children from abortion, then after that..FUCK THEM!!!

Her position was absolutely correct. We do need to seek spiritual and socialogical solutions in an attempt to avoid the "birth control" abortions. But first, we must reform the foster care system, so that the baby we save from an abortion, won't find itself being toss around like a football, then end up becoming a rogue within our society.

I respect your "talk", but your "walk" has a limp in it!

HTF would you know?

Do you have any idea how ass-backwards your logic is?

What - let the murder of a million innocents a year continue unabated while we fix the foster care system??!!

What's your solution to a five-alarm fire in an apartment building - let it burn while we address the disparity in HYDRANTS??!!

In response to Hylandrdet's post of the article from Policy Review On Line:

"The basic self-control and reciprocity that a free society takes for granted do not develop automatically. Conscience development takes place in childhood. Children need to develop empathy so they will care whether they hurt someone or whether they treat others fairly. They need to develop self-control so they can follow through on these impulses and do the right thing even if it might benefit them to do otherwise.

These are the steps in childhood development that must have been missed in those who subscribe to the hard-left philosophy. .
