'Hiccup Girl' Charged With First-Degree Murder - FoxNews.com

A Florida teenager whose uncontrollable hiccups once brought her worldwide attention was arrested and charged with murder, MyFoxTampaBay.com reports.

Jennifer Mee, 19, of St. Petersburg, Fla., became well-known as the "hiccup girl" a few years ago -- baffling doctors who tried numerous treatments to stop the hiccups that sometimes occurred 50 times per minute and caused her to miss school.

On Saturday, authorities arrested Mee and two others in the shooting death of 22-year-old Shannon Griffin, according to the station.

Police say Mee lured the victim to an area of St. Petersburg, where two men, Laron Raiford, 20, and Lamont Newton, 22, tried to rob him.

After Griffin struggled with the suspects, he was shot multiple times, investigators say.

Sgt. T. A. Skinner of the St. Petersburg Police Department told reporters that Mee and the others admitted their involvement. All three adults have been charged with first degree murder.

Mee was being held without bond early Monday. Pinellas County jail records did not show whether she has an attorney.
