Yep.....they will make your semi auto pistol, your Glock, Sig, Beretta, Smith and Wesson pistol.....illegal........they have upped their game...and you thought they only wanted to ban all rifles....

Senate Democrats introduce new ban on 'assault weapons'

Moving past singling out specific firearms, it would also ban semi-auto handguns and rifles with a detachable magazine and only one “military characteristics” such as a pistol grip, telescoping or folding stock, or threaded barrel.

Hey.....remember when the anti gunners told us they didn't care if we had 10 round magazines.......?

Likewise, detachable magazines capable of holding 10 or more rounds would be prohibited.

Little by little.

The ultimate objective is for you to keep only one single-shot, bolt-action, .22 rifle, chambered for Short, and to bear it only to federally supervised target ranges in a locked case with the bolt removed. You will be restricted to ammunition purchased at the range and all must be expended there or surrendered before leaving.

As repressive as all of that seems it does not violate the Second Amendment, which entitles us to keep and bear firearms. Each and every one of these bans and restrictions moves us closer to this rather comical but very real potential. Because there are many leftist politicians who would not hesitate to impose those very conditions on us. The likes of Charles Schumer is but one example. There are many more.

It will go nowhere.

And if it should by some nefarious machination, there will be no compliance.

What will they do then?

For your "protection" you can have a gun that shoots 300 feet and holds three bullets that have to be loaded Old West style. Now we are getting somewhere.

The ultimate objective is no guns therefore no gun deaths.

Not even close. While there will still be a few guns around they will be useless as weapons. And in the new nations that come after the US guns will be banned. Relics of a past barbaric age.

It will go nowhere.
You hope and so do I.

If they start arresting and imposing serious penalties compliance will follow. The biggest problem America has today is the divisive nature of its population.

I am old enough to remember when America was a very different Nation. Things like the Second Amendment meant something to citizens -- even those who weren't necessarily interested in guns. It was the Constitution they revered. With very few exceptions it's not like that today. The people are separated from each other, divided by economic, racial, political, and other concerns, and the government has expanded its influence dramatically.

Today the average citizen is confronted by a mammoth law-enforcement establishment which has grown very gradually, little by little. If, back in the fifties, I could have seen a preview of what government of 2017 would be like it would have scared the shit out of me. Back then, Big Brother was a fantastic notion in Orwell's, Nineteen Eighty Four. Today it is all too real. Back then the People were in control. Today the People wouldn't stand a chance against the transition to tyranny. Today's government is irresistible.

1984 is long past but Nineteen Eighty Four has been upon us for quite some time and it grows stronger every day.

I don't really think so. The police personnel required for those sorts of operations have to reside in the same neighborhoods. Draconian confiscation measures would simply up the ante. Frankly, cooperating state and local governments, LEOs and their families could face a dire reaction from Americans who value the Constitution.

The biggest problem America has today is the divisive nature of its population.

That will change only via a "common enemy syndrome", or by open conflict.

Today's government is irresistible.

If push came to shove, it would depend upon who the military sides with. They are not robots, after all.

Agreed.

That is an optimistic notion. More likely will be the development of some technologically advanced type of weapon -- something similar to the electrical zappers seen in the sci-fi movies. Any skepticism is equal to that which would accompany thoughts about cellphones and microwave ovens back in the thirties.

Yeah...no. Tell the fire department they get exactly 100 gallons of water to put out your house fire, then get back to us...

You know....genius....there was a time in human history when guns did not exist.....and in that time, the strong raped, murdered and enslaved the weak....they butchered the weak at will....

So....you obviously are not a serious person......

It is because of guns that we have the civilized societies that we have.....because the weak no longer have to bow to the strong...Sam Colt took care of that...

Sure am glad i have six shooters and a sniper rifle which is bolt action.

They will start making SWAT raids, which will bring about millions of voluntary surrenders. That's what they will do for openers.

Do you remember the WACO massacre. That's how our government deals with non-compliance.

What they will do is just go about their business.....and as you interact with the police, and they find the outlawed guns, any interaction with police because of a noisy neighbor will turn into a felony arrest for having a semi auto pistol....and they will make an example out of the law abiding American.......

That was against a hundred people or so. If even one-third of gun owners resisted, they would number approximately forty million.

If what happened at Waco were pursuant to a raid on non-compliant gun owners after all guns had been banned you may rest assured forty million or more formerly non-compliant hold-outs would change their minds. As it was very few Americans had anything at all in common with the Branch Davidians therefore had absolutely nothing with which to relate to them.

So your reference is spurious at best.
