Hey Lefties....shouldn't we increase taxes on EVERYBODY in the U.S.?

I mentioned that Republicans were looking to increase taxes on working Americans and you bitched about social programs in response. I can't be held accountable for your failure to make your point clearly.

yet Republicans are NOT looking to noticeably increase taxes on working Americans.....except maybe Cain....

Then why aren't they passing legislation to keep the payroll tax cut in place? Without that legislation every working American will face a significant tax increase in January, but Republicans are blocking attempts to extend the cut.

why BO ever cut payroll taxes is beyond me.....strictly a political ploy.....payroll taxes pay for social security and medicare....or how else do we fund those....?

if all taxes are "socialist" like you say.....then why don't you pay to the gubmint all of your income....except for $1700 (the world median income).....in order to make the world FAIR......like a good little socialist....?

The problem here is that it is impossible to have an honest discussion about taxes. Part of the problem is that you link it to hyperbole. Are taxes socialism? Of course. So is government for that matter. If you want to have a discussion about how much socialism is acceptable in a government..that's a valid discussion. If you think that taxation and prosperity are mapped, that's a valid discussion.

But really..this is sort of trolling.

It would be like me starting a thread, "Hey righties, you think we should eliminate all taxes?"

guess you don't want to give up your income.....

i suppose you think "tax the rich" isn't hyperbole ...or class warfare either....

lefties use that kind of tactic to push their agenda......i was addressing how socialist types work....as long as there is income inequality they will forever be attacking "the rich"....

don't you think that before they fall for this socialist type hyperbole.....Americans surely need to know that 99% of them qualify as "the rich" in this world of low income people....

it's all relative......:eusa_whistle:

When you aggregrate total world income, sure..

But that isn't honest or accurate.

No, it's the very weathy who have found ways around paying their fair share for years and years.

They need to catch up with the rest of us.

But comparing your average salary of $35,000 to someone making only $1,700.....you are f*cking RICH....!!!

YOU...as well as those even richer......need to pay MORE TAXES.......!!

Nope only those making over $1,000,000. You don't make that so stop whining.

No, that's not right. The 1% pay 39% of all federal INCOME taxes, which is about half of all federal tax revenues directly from income.

Correct. My bad as I intended to say federal income tax as I did when I mentioned the 47% paying nothing. My comment still stands. The 99% crowd who bitch and moan about the 1% won't ever respond to everyone paying a fair share. They think it is perfectly fine for 47% of Americans to pay nothing in federal income tax as their fair share while the 1% who pay 39% of the federal income tax are not paying a fair share. I ask you, wouldn't a fair share mean everyone paying something?

The whole eliminating federal income tax on the poor was a George W. Bush initiative. It made sense by the way. It was a good way to keep them off Federal programs while encouraging them to continue working hard.

I'll be happy to direct you to another forum I used to post at under the same name when Bush was president if you'd like to know what I thought of him. I was labeled a liberal there because of my lack of support for GWB.

Wait a minute.......I thought Bush eliminated taxes on the rich and that is what you guys are always bitching about???? WTF?

TAX! TAX! TAX!....socialism being the new world order and all.....

the average worldwide income is only $7,000.....and the world median income is only $1,700.......that means EVERYBODY in the U.S. is RICH....!

Countries with an average income near $7,000 include Mexico, Chile, and Latvia. They rank about 40th in the global income table.

As of 2005, people living in rich countries had an average income of about $35,000. The high incomes in these countries make the world average income four times larger than the world median income, which was $1,700 that year.

Average income worldwide is $7,000 - The Boston Globe

Making the rich pay taxes at the same rate as the rest of us is not socialism.

The U.S. military is the most socialist organization on the planet by the way.

Chris, the 1% pay 39% of federal income taxes while 47% of Americans pay 0% federal income taxes. Who isn't paying at the same rate again?

i never said we SHOULD raise taxes on all working Americans..

I mentioned that Republicans were looking to increase taxes on working Americans and you bitched about social programs in response. I can't be held accountable for your failure to make your point clearly.

.

Except they're stalling and opposing extending the payroll tax cut, which puts about $1,000 in middle-income American's hands.

Screaming, I saw your post here and wanted to add something here, it does seem somewhat of a terrible thing to do, to slam Social Security and Medicare because of the program costs, and yet at the same time cheer when the payroll taxes that support them are cut. Here's my feeling on the matter, funding Social Security is not only important its an obligation our nation owe's it's Seniors and if we wish as a nation to call ourselves an advanced nation then we will recognize those upon who's shoulders we stand upon that helped build it. As for the raising payroll taxes, it seems to me that it's simply returning to the rates that were in place prior to the cut, as would be letting the previous administrations tax cuts expire. Just as food for thought, in the last 10 years, we fought 2 wars, 3 if you want to count Libya, and in that time CUT taxes and did not pay for them. In doing so we put the burden of fighting those wars not on the American people where it rightly belongs, but, on just the military and its families. So is it any wonder then that we now find ourselves where we are if that model of tax cuts, while spending freely has been in place, with this attitude of " DONT RAISE MY TAXES".

To what purpose? Bush did both. Lowered taxes for the very rich and the very poor.

How's that working out?

they'd work better if we weren't SPENDING as if there was no tomorrow....the lowering value of the dollar is taking away any gains....

not to mention the retarded tangle of Bammy regulations....

Yes. They do seem to forget that fact don't they??

The USA already is socialist, just a most unfair and bought off version. Luckily the dems are working on it. A little reasonable regulation to protect citizens and a health system to save money and lives will do the trick.Obamahhhhhh...

When the top 1% has tripled their money while the non rich are sqeezed under voodoo, of course you raised taxes on the 1%...duh.

That 1% already pay 39% of all federal taxes while 47% of Americans pay 0% in federal income tax. I'd say the 1% are paying their fair share already. When will the 47% pay their fair share?

Another Pseudo-Conned celebrating the income inequity in America.

Tax the poor, free the rich.......

Ya well what those raw figures don’t represent is the cost of living in those parts of the world where the median income is lowest.

For instance one can spend $10 dollars on lunch alone here in the U.S., but ten bucks might buy you two goats and a chicken in Zimbabwe. Likewise a fulltime minimum wage monthly paycheck might buy one a three bedroom house with yard in Myanmar, but Americans don’t live in Myanmar; it barely pays rent and utilities here.

So the truth is that conservative argument is a fat load of bull.

Do they? One tenth of one percent of taxpayers pay more then the bottom 75% of taxpayers. Don't buy it? Take it up with the IRS, it's their data. Without the ability to make up "facts", liberals would have no argument at all would they?

Yes. Recend the Bush tax cuts. Demand a balanced budget amendment.
Repeal the bush tax cuts and watch overall tax monies decrease. Yeah, good plan. Balanced budget amendments are doomed to failure. All that happens is an automatic INCREASE in taxation to cover the shortfall.

Yeah, that'll be helpful.

Recending the Bush cuts would raise taxes on everyone. There is no evidence that it would result in fewer overall taxes. Without a Balanced Budget requirement modern day Politicians will continue to run up record deficits.
