They CAN use it to withdraw from an ATM in Mass. Well that's just crazy. Here in VA, you can't use the card anywhere but a grocer or similar retailer to buy food, and you can't use it to get cash back.

Again we have a half truth. You can use an EBT cash assistance card to get cash from an ATM but you can't use an EBT food stamp (SNAP) card to get cash from an ATM. And you can't use the cash from your EBT for bail!!!! Like anything from any Right-wing source, the OP is a lie. They knew they were lying which is why they used the disclaimer "ALLEGEDLY"

If they can withdraw the cash, noone is standing there with a camera to follow them around to see how they use that cash. And I would imagine they used the EBT card for just part of the bail - not all. But does that matter? To be able to withdraw cash from it, there is absolutely no way to keep track of what they spend that cash on. Period. It shouldn't be allowed.

Yeah, I know. Here they can only purchase food (and stuff to grow food). The card makes sense, and is most likely more efficient, easier to keep track of and so on ... until you allow it to be used as an ATM card.

Allowing it be used at an ATM is just madness, I bet people are abusing that like hell up in MA.

The alternative to cash benefits from a card are giving the person a check to cash. Why is that any different than using a card? Only some type of welfare would give cash benefits. Food stamps can only be used for food.

Actually, the alternative is eliminating cash benefits. There are VERY few things that should be a cash benefit such as:

Not cash benefits. They are cash and by nature have no rules. As stated before though, this is NOT SNAP (food stamps) as that is controlled and cannot be used in this manner.
