Heroes in the War Against Torture

and the guys who got the information and saved lives...not heroes...what a world we live in...that some mild discomfort that is not permanent is called torture and those who caused mild discomfort and saved lives are called traitors

If it only causes mild discomfort how could it possibly so effective as proponents claim?

Please share your experience being waterboarded.

as compared to chopping off limbs, beating the crap out of you...

and please, tell us yours if you think waterboarding is so heinous

First of all, torture and abortion, from a pro-choice person's stand point, are unrelated. Why? Because torture involved a person and abortion involves an undeveloped fetus, which isn't a person yet. Understand? You can scream and shout all you want that a fetus is a person, and define what being a person is, but to us, it isn't and it never will be, especially when you use religious doctrine to try and prove a point.

And for conservatives, you're not very compassionate. Not all of those prisoners are guilty. They weren't tried and convicted. Some were, most haven't yet or weren't or will never. They were suspected of terrorism. Some were released with all charges dropped and this is from a military tribunal! Those that are guilty should spend the rest of their lives in prison.

You might not think its torture, but Ronald Reagan did. The leaders at the Geneva Convention did. I think it dehumanizes people, and I think it compromises the principles of this nation of human rights and courage. If we allow terrorist to terrorize us to the point that we torture suspects, then the terrorists have won, and we are no better than Saddam Hussein's regime.

My father was waterboarded as part of his training in the military during Vietnam. He says it was one of the most terrible physical experiences he's ever had. The men in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo have no choice and little hope for release. What must it be like for them?
