This is very very cool. The Heritage Foundation...a well known GOP political strategy organization....has rated capital hill politicians for adherance to conservative principles.

My rep out here in California is a blue dog Democrat...and he only got 16%!.....you gotta be just like Rush Limbaugh to rate high on this scale.

Whatever side you fall on....this is interesting....and I highly approve of holding Washington politicians accountable...these guys are doing a good thing for all of us

Well.. they have Roscoe Bartlett from our area in MD rated above 70%... and that is very misleading... because he is pretty shady and has sided with Obamacare and other things that are not very conservative.... Would love to get new true conservative blood in his seat

What libertarian politicians can libertarians hold accountable?

The elected janitor at the local police station?

That's just mean.....

I try not to remind Libertarians about that, but hey!......I'm a social Libertarian myself.

Philosophically I'm a libertarian too, was going to join the party til they put in that republican hack Bob Barr at the top of the ticket.

Just saying there's none in any prominent level of gov't. Reps and dems buddy up to make sure of that.

They gave my senator Scott Brown (R-MA) a 49......seems pretty accurate.

It seems they were going for Neocon
Evidenced by Dr. Paul at 77%....Obviously not neocon enough for 'em.

I would call the good doctor a hardcore fiscal conservative and a social liberal.

I don't know of any other fiscal conservatives in the republican party, but of course Heritage has a diff idea of fiscal conservatism than many of us do.

What are the main differences between fiscal conservatism and fiscal Libertarianism?

I know the glaring differences between social conservatism, social liberalism, and social libertarianism......

but the fiscal differences between Libertarians and Conservatives isn't clear. Do they both think they're fiscal conservatives, and just define it differently?

Oh....so if I understand....do you think that the current Republicans on capitol hill are not fiscal conservatives?....sounds like both claim it, and practice it differently....agree?

Fiscal conservatives (i.e. neocons) believe that they can run the socialistic welfare/warfare/nanny state more effectively and at lower costs, while fiscal libertarians reject the premise that such a bloated, bureaucratic central authoritarian apparatus should exist at all.

I think we're just crossing up our terminology, yes what you typed is how I would describe republicans, but i would say republcians are fiscal liberals just like democrats.

Half right, I don't think republicans practice fiscal conservatism in ANY way. But yes they say they do. They claim voting against democrats is a sign fiscal conservatism, but it's not, Bush grew gov't and spent way more than Clinton could ever imagine doing in his first 6 years when he had full republican support in the houses.

That would be correct...The proof of this is in the first six years of Chimpola's regime, which spent more and expanded bureaucracy at a greater rate than his "liberal" predecessor.
