Heraldo Rivera Admits Libya Attack May Have Been Caused By Anti-Muslim Video

It's an old story that came out of a secret room once used by Al Capone, the safe wasn't empty.
Geraldo, hahahahahahaha............
James Rosen at FOX News reported:
Across 166 pages of internal State Department documents – released today by a pair of Republican congressmen pressing the Obama administration for more answers on the Benghazi terrorist attack – slain U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and the security officers assigned to protect him repeatedly sounded alarms to their superiors in Washington about the intensifying lawlessness and violence in Eastern Libya, where Stevens ultimately died.
On September 11 – the day Stevens and three other Americans were killed – the ambassador signed a three-page cable, labeled “sensitive,” in which he noted “growing problems with security” in Benghazi and “growing frustration” on the part of local residents with Libyan police and security forces. These forces the ambassador characterized as “too weak to keep the country secure.”
In the document, Stevens also cited a meeting he had held two days earlier with local militia commanders. These men boasted to Stevens of exercising “control” over the Libyan Armed Forces, and threatened that if the U.S.-backed candidate for prime minister were to prevail in Libya’s internal political jockeying, “they would not continue to guarantee security in Benghazi.”
Roughly a month earlier, Stevens had signed a two-page cable, also labeled “sensitive,” that he entitled “The Guns of August: Security in Eastern Libya.” Writing on August 8, the ambassador noted that in just a few months’ time, “Benghazi has moved from trepidation to euphoria and back as a series of violent incidents has dominated the political landscape…The individual incidents have been organized,” he added, a function of “the security vacuum that a diverse group of independent actors are exploiting for their own purposes.”
“Islamist extremists are able to attack the Red Cross with relative impunity,” Stevens cabled. “What we have seen are not random crimes of opportunity, but rather targeted and discriminate attacks.” His final comment on the two-page document was: “Attackers are unlikely to be deterred until authorities are at least as capable.”
…After the U.S. consulate in Benghazi had been damaged by an improvised explosive device, earlier that month, Stevens had reported to his superiors that an Islamist group had claimed credit for the attack, and in so doing, had “described the attack as ‘targeting the Christians supervising the management of the consulate.”
“Islamic extremism appears to be on the rise in eastern Libya,” the ambassador wrote, adding that “the Al-Qaeda flag has been spotted several times flying over government buildings and training facilities…”
Despite these many warnings the Obama administration cut security in Libya.
And then they lied and said the 9-11 Benghazi terror strike was a YouTube “protest.”

they were also denied the use of a plane to get out of there if it got rough. I heard them state in the hearings that it was determinied that it was safe to fly out commercially there. I wonder by whom? If you indeed read all the documents you would see there were numerous attacks going on at the airport there. Another failure there.

No one has been able to demonstrate that the video did not play a role in precipitating the attack, but,

no one on the right seems capable of that teeny tiny bit of extra thought and that gram or two of objectivity that might be able to lead them to the most reasonable and logical conclusion,

that it might not, and probably does not, boil down to an overly simplistic, got to be black or white, either/or, situation where the video either caused the attack or it didn't.

Geraldo Rivera, a controversial reporter:

1. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, he accepted a pay cut and went to work for the Fox News Channel as a war correspondent in November 2001. Rivera's brother Craig accompanied him as a cameraman on assignments in Afghanistan.

2. In 2001, during the War in Afghanistan, Rivera was derided for a report in which he claimed to be at the scene of a friendly fire incident; it was later revealed he was actually 300 miles away. Rivera blamed a minor misunderstanding for the discrepancy.[19]

3. Controversy arose in early 2003, while Rivera was traveling with the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq. During a Fox News broadcast, Rivera began to disclose an upcoming operation, even going so far as to draw a map in the sand for his audience. The military immediately issued a firm denunciation of his actions, saying it put the operation at risk, and nearly expelled Rivera from Iraq. Two days later, he announced that he would be reporting on the Iraq conflict from Kuwait.[20][21]

3. In 2005, Rivera engaged in a feud with The New York Times over their allegations that he pushed aside a member of a rescue team in order to be filmed "assisting" a woman in a wheelchair down some steps in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The ensuing controversy caused Rivera to appear on television and demand a retraction from the Times. He further threatened to sue the paper if one was not provided.[22

4. In 2007, Geraldo was involved in a dispute with fellow Fox colleague Michelle Malkin, Malkin announced that she would not return to The O'Reilly Factor, claiming that Fox News had mishandled a dispute over derogatory statements made about her by Geraldo in a Boston Globe interview.

Rivera, while objecting to her views on immigration, says, "Michelle Malkin is the most vile, hateful commentator I've ever met in my life. She actually believes that neighbors should start snitching out neighbors, and we should be deporting people." He added, "It's good she's in D.C., and I'm in New York. I'd spit on her if I saw her", Rivera later apologized for his comments.[24][25]

5. On March 23, 2012, Rivera made controversial comments regarding Trayvon Martin's hoodie and how the hoodie was connected to the shooting death of Martin.[33] Since the comments, of which even Rivera's son Gabriel was "ashamed",[34] the barrage of dissent against him on various websites (including Twitter) and even his own radio show has not stopped.[citation needed]

He apologized for any offense that he caused with the comments. Some, however, have taken the apology as disingenuous, if even as any kind of apology whatsoever.[35] Among those who did not accept the apology was a longtime friend of Rivera, Russell Simmons.[36] He later apologized to Trayvon Martin's parents as well

Geraldo is always making incorrect suppositions. And apologizing afterwards. Nothing new here.

Geraldo has an opinion?

This must be a lie because everyone knows Fox are ALL far rightwingers. At least that's what you loons say.

Kinda speaks to their motto of balance

Snytholic......you're fucking tard......you still buy the visdeo excuse.......you are an Obamabot.....no critical thinking skills
So why didnt they riot in July, when it came out? They just happened to protest on 9/11.....oh and the fact their were no crowds before the incident......wow you will swallow anything.....and I mean ANYTHING ;)

blame this on fox all you want, but Obama's the one that lied, and they American people know it.

The article comes from Think Progress. I didn't even have to read it.

You are right, the American people know that obama lied, and he's continuing to lie. Either obama lied or he was just incompetent. Not only is obama incompetent, but he has surrounded himself with a regime that is also incompetent.

It's still amusing, in a somewhat dark way, to see the same people that still insist invading Iraq was a brilliant idea

can now sit here and act as if this incident in Libya is the worst foreign policy disaster ever.
