I picked up enough of a Texan accent when I was stationed there that the people here noticed it. Those in Texas thought I had a northern accent while people in Colorado noticed a Texan accent (not quite southern, not quite western Texas has an accent all it's own.)

Sorry. Tis true. But, like I said, if it makes you feel any better, it's not as pronounced.

At least I don't say "done did it" and "fixing to" - and those who are too lazy to say "fixing to" say "fixin' to" - and those too lazy to say "fixin to" say "fittina."

I remember talking to some people about what they did over the weekend. They mentioned some of their kid's friends came over to spend the night so they fixed them a pallet on the floor.

I though, "Why in the world would anyone sleep on one of those wooden pallets?"

They saw my look and asked me what was wrong. I explained my confusion and of course, they all laughed hysterically before explaining that a pallet was just a bunch of blankets on the floor.
