This is a nice looking board format, especially the title logo and color format. I've registered as TR_Repub in order to pay homage to one of the greatest figures of Republican Party politics, Theodore Roosevelt. As a lifelong Republican the current state of party politics and the direction in has taken over the past decade has caused me so much concern I pressed the Emergency Stop button on this bus in order to get the hell off . Simply put there are too many fat cat and ideologues up front with their hands on the wheel and a driver far too willing to let these folks steer it along. Luckly it so happened the Dem bus has a new driver, he seemed far more capable and responsible so here I sit at the moment. However while the direction may be more steady it still isn't the GOP route.

Someone needs to fix the quickly emptying, careening GOP Express before so many people bail off it gets parked for good. Well, that or it hits a solid object. Here's a suggestion to the management; if the fat cats and ideologues have a different destination in mind besides USA, i.e. the Sino-American Capitalist Republic :salute: or Dobson's Holy PalinLand :hmpf:, please them 'em to take a damm limo or something.

Hello. I'm new and post very little. I like to read the post and not post my two cents. Trying to keep up with the GOP. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

TR was one of my favorite Republican Presidents, too.

If the Republican party still stood for what TR stood for, I'd be SO REPUBLICAN.

Sadly neither party stands for anything but nest-feathering for the insiders as far as I can tell.

I'm HOPING Obama proves me wrong, of course, but let's just say I'm not betting the farm on it.

TR was a Republican by accident, not ideology. He was considered a HUGE mistake by the Republicans who nominated him to the N.Y.S. governorship not knowing his political views and believing they could control him. They then nominated him for the vice-Presidency just to get him out of the Governors seat (N.Y.S. was very important at that time). His acendancy to the Presidency was by assasination.

They Republican insiders tried very hard to stop him from getting the next Presidential nomination, but by a fluke failed (I forget but I think something weird happened to the other major Republican candidate). He was just too popular to stop.

In short, TR was a Republican in name only. If you believe in the things that he believed in you really should consider becoming a Democrat or even a socialist (sorry for the nasty language).

BTW, Welcome to USMB!

Notions that a politican must toe the line of established party doctrine, that party insiders determine who shall ascend to nomination status, not the rank and file through the ballot, and anyone who attaches himself to populism should detatch himself from the party...thanks for revealing the ugly side of GOP politics. I'll find the door myself ty.

Hi, new here too. Welcome.

Both political parties have problems. Hopefully the people that these political parties are supposed to represent will get a line on both parties.
