We gave up the excitement of the city for the family environment of historic New Mexico. The emphasis is on family here. While New Mexico is primarily Mexican-American, it is an integrated community of people who enjoy a slower pace of life.

Sorry to disappoint. I was born in Evanston, Illinois. I have only been to Mexico one time and that was on the border of Nogales.
Actually, it was kind of freaky. My mom had asked me to pick up a half dozen clay flower pots with painted decorations on them for her patio. I was struggling with them all wrapped in paper as I went to cross the border, (only a fool drives across).
There was an American immigration guy sitting between the two lines going back into the United States. I simply said "Do you want me to unwrap these? Is there a place I should go?" The agent hit me hard, "Why do you think we want to look for drugs? Are you the kind of guy that would bring drugs into the United States? You don't look like a guy who would bring drugs into the United States? Just step through here?"
Well, I have to tell you my face must have been red as a beat. I was embarrassed and humiliated. Then, the agent laughed, "Go ahead. You're cleared. We have many ways to check." I never crossed again.
