Welcome, if for some nutty reason martial law was declared it would be the people that live in cities that would have to worry not those who live in rural farming areas, and it would be hard to declare martial law with our military busy with 2 wars.

You know the difference between a pessimist and an optimist? The pessimist expects the worst, and when it doesn't happen, is happy. The optimist expects the best and when it doesn't happen, is disappointed.
It never hurts to be prepared.

Yes. We are very conscientious about it. And yes, it is our family and a few friends that will be invited. It's not like we have a huge underground facility or anything but we do have a nice set up. A nice farm, well water, generators, plenty of forest and game for hunting, horses....and yes...we buy extra dry goods, canned goods and bottled water. We will also try something new this year....we will begin canning from our garden that we will begin. We think it's a good thing to know....how to handle a garden properly. And it's high time we learn!
You may think it's silly AND maybe it is....BUT!! Are you aware of the current state of the US dollar? Do you wonder just how much more it will decline after China quits buying up all of the debt?? Do you think about what will happen to our all mighty dollar if Japan's new leader DOES decide to transfer Japan’s monetary reserves from US dollars into another currency?? And don't even get me started on Obama. Budget. HA! Just one big welfare country....that's what we'll be! Big, fat, lazy socialists.
Yes.....it may be silly to collect extra food and supplies. It may be silly to learn how to live off of the land. It may be silly to depend on horses. But maybe....JUST MAYBE.....it's the smart thing to do.
And by the way......It's MARTIAL law, NOT Marshall. And I am NOT a Mennonite....they are my neighbors and I like the way that they live. We are peaceful people where I come from. God fearing and law abiding.....unless the law turns on us, that is.

Sorry, my job went to India......our government made that possible. India's government wouldn't let me come and work that same job saying those jobs are for their own people. Our government brings in massive numbers of immigrants both legal and illegal to take our jobs, bringing our wages down and limiting our resources so that prices go UP!
When our population reached 200 million there was a big to do....parties all over the country and the 200 millionth citizen recevied a lot of press. When our population reached 300 million, it was kept quiet because our government knew that their was more than a 75% chance that 300 millionth citizen would be the child of an illegal or a recent immigrant.
Americans have limited their birthrate to less than replacement value while recent immigrants have an average of 7.5 children per family. We are being treated as 2nd class citizens in our own country.
As for going to another country, they don't take us....New Zealand wouldn't take us because neither my husband nor myself had a doctorate. Australia wouldn't take us because we were over 40. Japan wouldn't take us, etc. etc. etc. Ours is the only country in the world that allows unskilled labor to come in and compete with it's own citizens.
Read up on our history, when there were too many Irish, there were wars across this country. When there were too many Chinese, they were shipped home, some of them were hung. Now there are too many Hispanics, what makes you think history isn't going to repeat itself?

As the dollar continues to fall, the supplies at our farm continue to increase. Some people think we're nuts, but we are firm believers that martial law could be in affect in our country sometime in the future. If so, we will be ready. I am glad that I found this site. I want to use it as a learning tool. There is so much that I still need to learn.
