Helen Thomas: Tough as ever

My take is the MSM with Thomas shot their wad regarding calling Obama out. I'd hope I'm wrong, will be grateful id am, just think not.

Interesting. Now Helen Thomas is a "heroin" to the cons. Simply amazing.
Hero schmero.

It's fun getting a ringside seat watching Gibbs squirm, while he tries to 'splain why Little Lord Obammyroy is doing the Mark Sanford with the likes of Daily Koooks and Huff-n-puff, while pushing the apple polishers who got his skinny ass elected to the back of the bus.

Ironic, the MSM cheered for Bush over Gore in 2000 and refused to ask the Bush administration any critical questions in the run up to the invasion of Iraq...

AND, it was the so called "liberal" media that brought down the most liberal president since WWII...Lyndon Johnson...

The liberal media bias is a creation of the paranoid Nixon - Agnew administration...

Modern Fabian socialist "liberalism" -which includes the vast bulk of the media- is nothing, if not intellectually lazy and derelict in its duty.

Besides that, the media learned back in 'Nam that war is a great story, especially if they can help it to fall on its face.

Rome burns and the media asks what? If Townhall questions are asked in advance? egads, no wonder nothing works.

goebbels is of course your hero and your idea of free speech and press is only the liberals have the right to be heard...i'm sure when the claim of bush not being open you were right there to defend him with "witty" quips like this...

Thomas said today Obama's admin is WORSE THEN NIXON.

Thomas has publicly expressed her opinion about President George W. Bush; after a speech at a Society of Professional Journalists banquet, she told an autograph-seeker, who asked why she was sad, "I'm covering the worst president in American history."

what color is the sky on your native planet?
cbs called florida for gore before the polls closed in florida.

it took six months for someone to finally call out the administration on this issue.
it's been going on since obama took office, and whether you voted for him or not, you should be very troubled by the idea of the press becoming a PR organ for the government.

Al Gore v. the Media

At one early Democratic debate, a gathering of about 300 reporters in a nearby press room hissed and hooted at Gore's answers. Meanwhile, every perceived Gore misstep, including his choice of clothing, is treated as a new excuse to put him on a psychiatrist's couch and find him wanting.

Going After Gore
Al Gore couldn't believe his eyes: as the 2000 election heated up, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other top news outlets kept going after him, with misquotes ("I invented the Internet"), distortions (that he lied about being the inspiration for Love Story), and strangely off-the-mark needling, while pundits such as Maureen Dowd appeared to be charmed by his rival, George W. Bush. For the first time, Gore and his family talk about the effect of the press attacks on his campaign—and about his future plans—to the author, who finds that many in the media are re-assessing their 2000 coverage.

The Press vs. Al Gore
Last year, a review conducted by two nonpartisan groups, Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Pew Research Center, found that a stunning seventy-six percent of the Gore campaign coverage in early 2000 centered around two negative themes: that he lies and exaggerates, and that he's tarred by scandal. "We call it the metanarrative," says Tom Rosenstiel, director of Project for Excellence in Journalism. "Journalists are looking for a story line, a narrative device, that plays out over weeks and months, and there's nothing wrong with that. The problem is if they let the narrative overwhelm the facts, then it becomes a distorting lens. It can lead journalists to ignore and mischaracterize facts as they try to fit them into the story."

The press responds to critics on the right by bending over backward not to look liberal," says Geneva Overholser, a professor at the University of Missouri School of Journalism and former ombudsman for the Washington Post, referring to the common conservative criticism of the so-called liberal media. "The cumulative effect is the opposite: They're tougher on Democrats." She, too, is convinced there was "something fundamentally wrong" with the 2000 election press coverage.

Modern Fabian socialist "liberalism" -which includes the vast bulk of the media- is nothing, if not intellectually lazy and derelict in its duty.

Besides that, the media learned back in 'Nam that war is a great story, especially if they can help it to fall on its face.

You aren't skeptical of jack shit of nearly anything that comes across the lips of anyone who carries that (D) by their name....That makes you gullible, not skeptical.

Meanwhile, I'm skeptical of them all.

And to think that she is far left. Here is more of what she said about this administration. Pay special attention to the last paragraph, boy is she pissed. I think that question she was told to ask about there being terrorists in Afganistan might have embarrassed her, she knows there are and so does every person in the U.S that is older than 5. This was done to avoid hard questions about the so-called stimulus bill which was supposed to be the topic of discussion.

How do all you Obama voters feel about all this transperency now??????? Hmmmmm, maybe not so good, huh. Ever heard of the freedom of information act???? Freedom of the press????

Helen Thomas and Chip Reid Challenge Obama Admin. On 'Controlled' Town Hall Meeting

Thursday, July 2, 2009 9:30 AM

By: Kenneth D. Williams Article Font Size

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs and the Obama administration found the press corps slightly less friendly than they are used to yesterday, when CBS's Chip Reid asked why the questions for Wednesday’s town hall on healthcare were being selected beforehand.

Gibbs tried to dodge the issue, and asked for it to be asked after the town hall meeting in question, but then Helen Thomas became involved, saying, “We have never had that in the White House. I’m amazed that you people … call for openness and transparency.”

Reid and Thomas didn't let up for a second, especially Thomas.

To see the video, of the full exchange, Go Here Now.

Karl Rove opined on Fox News this morning that, to some extent, Gibbs had a point in saying that, since people are free to ask whatever questions they want, the president should be allowed to answer whichever questions he wants.

But Thomas didn't see it that way. After the press conference, she told CNS News that Obama's grip on the media is even greater than that of Richard Nixon.

"Nixon didn’t try to do that. They couldn’t control [the media]. They didn’t try that. What the hell do they think we are, puppets? They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them. I’m not saying there has never been managed news before, but this is carried to fare-thee-well - for the town halls, for the press conferences. It’s blatant. They don’t give a damn if you know it or not. They ought to be hanging their heads in shame." :clap2::clap2::clap2:

The above is the first statement that I have ever agreed with a liberal on.

The honeymoon is over Obama.

No, you are cynical of everything, and that makes you a spectator...being a spectator and being against everything in a free society is really a coward...

Alexander Hamilton said: Those who stand for nothing fall for anything. Well, those that have no ideas or optimism get what they deserve...I am skeptical of government, but I am also skeptical of corporations and special interests.

The way I see the current state of the two national parties...one party is trying to address our nation's problems, and one party is trying to undermine that effort solely for political gain and to regain power... what's left of the current GOP is authoritarians and radicals. Everyone else has sided with the Democrats...

Example...Let's look at our broken health care system. We pay twice as much as any other industrialized nation and our outcomes rank with Slovenia and Cuba. The root cause is pharmaceutical corporations that have American taxpayers subsidizing their costs and insurance corporations that make medical decisions that brutally interferes with the doctor/patient relationship. Over 60% of the personal bankruptcies in America are due to medical costs, AND 75% HAD health insurance. These corporations have successfully gained influence and legislation that has rigged the system and undermined a free market.

BUT...Republicans STAND WITH the corporations over the well being of businesses, families and the American PEOPLE...and I find it amazing that right wing followers stand WITH them... it is WHY I call them PEA brains...

You should be concerned, if the media publishes just what the WH wants, regardless of party, you have no way of making informed choices.

Best as I can figure, I agree with her about once every 10 years. No heroine, LOL! Not a drug either.

So, about once every 10 years you disagree with government...LOL

It'll be at least 3-1/2 before you disagree again....
