Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Admit No Evil

What were the three specific questions? That might help to explain the fuzzy answers.

Okay working from memory here, but the best I can remember is:

Bill Hemmer is interviewing Chris Van Hollen (D).

And the three specific questions were:

Nancy Pelosi's pledge to have ethics hearings by Sepember that aren't going to happen.
What about her 2008 pledge to have the cleanest Congress in history.
What about Democrats failure to address tax cuts and now refusing to do so until after the election?
Boy! That's a real primrose path to go down from ethics investigations throgh Republican stonewalling! Even on my best day (and that ain't today) I couldn't link Republicans to blocking ethics hearings, unless the actually are.

As for the tax cuts, if the Bush tax cuts lapse and new tax cuts for folks who actually deserve tax cuts are stonewalled by Republicans, how can the Republicans show their faces ever again?

Republicans haven't been blocking ethics hearings. But the Democrats aren't holding them either.

As for the tax cuts, the GOP has been soundly slammed by its base by delivering 'half a loaf' and then caving in to liberal and/or socialist initiatives on the other half. Their base is demanding they hold firm until they get a bill that will actually free up the business world to start investing again and creating jobs again. Hamstringing almost ALL of the job producing businesses (those earning $250 k or more) with substantially higher taxes will not do that. The GOP is now being responsible. The Democrats are not.

DAT BOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!! Oh and doze RAAAACEEEEEEESTS TOO!!! Yea that stale chit wont be enough for the Democrats this time around. They have nothing to run on and they know it. Make 2010 count America.

What legislation have the Republicans actually voted in favor of?

Aren't businesses awash in cash right now? And the reason we've been told they are reluctant to do much hiring is their "uncertainty" about the economic policies?

First of all blocking ethics hearings to protect your own is Washington 101.

Second in regards to the evil Bush tax cuts. If the dems let them laps it will lower the child tax credit, lower the standard deduction for married couples, lower contribution caps for a variety of savings programs and increase the tax rates for ALL brackets.
IT WILL BE A TAX INCREASE FOR ALL PEOPLE THAT PAY FEDERAL INCOME TAXES!!!

By not addressing the expiration of these tax cuts the dems are fucking over the middle class they pretend to defend. How will they ever be able to show their faces again?

The Republicans aren't allowed ANY amendments or input into legislation that is offered these days. The best they can do is try to slow down the rush to economic disaster the current Congress seems to be hell bent on.

Can you think of ANYTHING the Democrats have done that hasn't worked that they are willing to reverse? To not plan to do more of?

Yes at lot of them are. But they are unwilling to stick their necks out there and take a blood bath and wind up with nothing. They don't like the healthcare overhaul and have no assurance that it isn't going to hit them with huge mandates and tax outlays; thus they aren't hiring and get stuck with a lot of extra expense they can't afford. They are unwilling to make investments and then get hit with huge capital gains taxes.

For some reason they are highly skeptical of a President and Congress that tells them that they'll have to wait until legislation is passed to know how it is going to affect them.

Who "actually deserves tax cuts"?? Wouldn't anyone earning money deserve them?

The Democrats wanted to play the same game and blame the GOP for blocking cuts. But that backfired because people understand that high income earners are high producers and an essential element to the economy. And discriminating against them is discrimination.
So the strategy backfired.

It's like they think we are all just to dumb to notice.

Check Cloward / Piven.

They are close freinds with the clintons and the dnc. You can call me paranoid, but the dnc wants the economy to fail as part of a grander plan.

Can you think of ANYTHING the Democrats have done that hasn't worked that they are willing to reverse? To not plan to do more of?

Republicans were offered chance after chance to participate in structuring the Stimulus Bill and Healthcare Bill. They turned it down

Meaning the Republicans are nothing but obstructionists. Once they have poisoned the well, what makes them think they will be able to pass legislation if they were to get a majority in Congress?

You mean they were given an opportunity to hang themselves by strapping on to the Democratic disaster. They wisely declined.
Except in Healthcare when Olympia Snow and Susan Collins worked in committee with--I can't remember the chairman. They were working on it and compromising and word came from the WH that it was taking too long, shut out the GOP and get on with it.
The GOP has a much better record of working with Dems than vice versa. Unfortunately that has resulted in such travesties as No Child's Left Behind and Prescription Drug Benefit.

Who "actually deserves tax cuts"??

Just people that don't pay taxes I guess.

If you're a Dem that's true. The second round Bush tax cuts couldn't pass without provisions for tax cuts to people who paid no income tax. Pelosi insisted on that.
The Dems are doing to the American people what the fellow in your sig line does for a living.

BULL SHIT!!!

GOP amendments to health-care reconciliation bill fail

Republicans offered dozens of amendments to the measure -- a package of changes to the bill President Obama signed into law Tuesday -- with a goal of forcing it back to the House for another vote. But when the Senate began voting on the amendments shortly after 5 p.m., each proposal was easily rejected.

I don't think the DNC does per se. I just think too many in that party were raised by parents and/or educated by teachers who instilled a 'victim' mentality into them that allows them to tolerate, even embrace an authoritarian government that rules all aspects of their lives. They were conditioned to believe Democrat = benevolence, caring, charity, safety net etc. while GOP = all that is evil in government. The educated among them take advantage of that to enrich and empower themselves; the rest are too under educated to discern the lies inherent in those concepts. But I think most Democrats do not want to destroy America as we know it.

I am less convinced of the motives of high level operatives in the Obama administration however. Some of those I do suspect of wanting to destroy the American economy and social system in order to install a Marxist model of utopia that they envision--one that will completely empower and enrich them of course.

Do you think Democrats would vote in favor of Bills they are not even allowed to offer Amendments for debate on?

Nancy promised the more Bipartisan Congress ever, and proceeded to make it the most divided one in History.

Shuuhh. Nutwinger hates facts that contradict his own little version of history.

Did you actually read your link? This wasn't the GOP offering help....they were trying to torpedoe the legislation altogether. Also known as obstructionism.

Utter BS.

They offered plans and many amendments. The dims reply? "We won, you lost, get used to it". Nancy Pelosi

See that's the problem. "See no evil"--refuse to see the damaging aspects of a piece of legislation. "Hear no evil"--refuse to hear the lies in the rhetoricv and/or accusations made by the majority Congressional leaders. "Admit no evil"--do not admit that the Democrats were unwilling to delay or change any part of legislation or send back to the drawing board a piece of legislation that most Americans did not trust, did not believe, did not understand, did not want, and therefore was deeply unpopular.

You call trying to stop that 'obstructionism'. I call it representing one's constituents.
