Health Care Law is excellent example of why Democrats don’t have a clue

The Democrats pass their health care bill and applaud that the president now has the power to just decide what insurance will and will not cover. They hear the president just tell health insurance you have to provide contraceptives for free. They are so dumb that they can not see past when Obama is no longer president. You would have to believe that they realize that if the health care law stays then a Republican president will have those same powers. They can tell insurance they can not cover contraceptives or abortions at all. That is the problem when you pass things that give so much power to the president. Democrats only have the intelligence to see what they want and how to get what they want but lack the foresight to see what the risks are. That is just really, really dumb.

That is why Democrats will never be good for this country. The government should never be the answer. At least when dealing with a private entity you still have power. When the government takes something over you lose all your rights. They believe that by government taking over then they will make all the things happen that they want to happen. However, many times when the government takes over there will be a day when things are done that you don’t want to happen. But by then it is to late because when dealing with the power of government it is nearly impossible to go back to private.

The bill only gives the Secretary the authority to determine what is covered, not the power to say certain things cannot be covered.

Say that to yourself over and over again. If the Secretary declares something does not fall under a medical expense under the MLR then guess what insurance will not cover it.

    LOL did you proofread that?

"The bill gives the secretary the authority to determine what is covered"
"The bill does not give the power to say certain things cannot be covered"

I agree with you're end conclusion. But don't think we don't have power hungry loons in the GOP. The system of checks and balances would perform properly if the real idiots (uninformed voters) weren't allowed to vote total power to one party.

Healthcare Mandate And Birth Control Coverage Were Republican Ideas, Until A Democrat Enacted Them.

Neither party has the exclusive right to being clueless.

Context is king here. The secretary has the power to say "policies must cover x," but she does not have the power to say "policies cannot cover y."

It's the English translation of my sig line. It comes from Cicero, and in the Second Treatise, Locke refers to it as the highest principle of government.

Interestingly enough, while I agree with the sentiment, I wouldn't have shared Cicero's general views on the issues of the age, siding with the populares against the optimates.
