This documentary by Spike Lee is a four part series with each episode being about 2 hours in length. I am therefore breaking it into four threads.

Episode 4 (Chapters 7 and 8) deals with the aftermath of 9/11. He dives deep into the rescue efforts and the dismantling of The Pile.

There are a couple moments when you can hear the emergency signals of all the dead firemen in the rubble and it is fricking heartbreaking.

Probably the very best moment in the entire documentary series occurs about 15 or 20 minutes into this episode when the recovered body of one of the first responders is carried to an ambulance through a long gauntlet of saluting workers.

Spike Lee also documents the amazing libertarianism which came to the fore during the rescue and deconstruction of The Pile.

He also spends time documenting the struggle of the work crews who came down with cancers and other deadly illnesses trying to get financial aid from Congress.

And then he goes into the hardiness and determination of the citizens of New York city to rise from the ashes stronger than ever.

Very well done. Very, very well done.
