Following the eruption of Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, experts on the West Coast of America are now warning of potential volcanic eruptions involving the 13 volcanoes forming the Pacific's 'Ring of Fire.'

The West Coast is home to an 800-mile (1,300-kilometer) chain of 13 volcanoes, include Mount St. Helens, whose spectacular 1980 eruption in the Pacific Northwest killed dozens of people and sent volcanic ash across the country, and Mount Rainier, which towers above the Seattle metro area.

Whatever happens with this thing guess we better hope it doesn't trigger the super volcano in Yellowstone.

Good thing I have my lava insurance policy all paid up. :D

Its not only those ring of fire volcanoes it is Long Valley as well. What every one is missing is the plate edge is under great stress so it is not only the volcano's its the shift in tectonic plates and stress between them.

There has been a significant uptick in quakes along the Pacific Plate boundary.

Kilauea Volcano Eruption Spreads Again, Sends 'Lava Bombs' 500 Feet In The Air

looks like things are getting close to a major eruption...

Most of the destructive power of the eruption has been centered on the eastern rift zone, but the USGS continues to warn that the summit of the volcano, which is within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, also harbors explosive potential.

Seismic activity causes rockfalls in the main crater and possible interactions with the water table could also trigger eruptive activity that can send boulders as large as refrigerators soaring within about a half mile of the summit. So far there have been no interactions with the water table and mostly just steam and ash has risen from the crater. If there is explosive activity, it's also possible that smaller chunks could travel even farther and fine ash could be spread over a large area downwind of the volcano.

Kilauea Volcano Eruption Spreads Again, Sends 'Lava Bombs' 500 Feet In The Air

Volcanic Activity Summary: As of early this morning, eruption of ash from the Overlook vent within Halemaumau crater at Kilauea Volcano's summit has generally increased in intensity. Ash has been rising nearly continuously from the vent and drifting downwind to the southwest. Ashfall and vog (volcanic air pollution) has been reported in Pahala, about 18 miles downwind. NWS radar and pilot reports indicate the top of the ash cloud is as high as 10,000 to 12,000 feet above sea level, but this may be expected to vary depending on the vigor of activity and wind conditions.

Ash emission from the Kilauea summit vent will likely be variable with periods of increased and decreased intensity depending on the occurrence of rockfalls into the vent and other changes within the vent.

At any time, activity may become more explosive, increasing the intensity of ash production and producing ballistic projectiles near the vent.
