I want to make this a general discussion of which what has happened in the US and Trump are only a part. Recent riots in France, Brexit, Merkel's stumbles, Italy's new right-wing government and a generally clear popular pushback against long-accepted norms regarding globalism and migration suggest that the world order the elites in the West championed are being severely scrutinized by their peoples.
Is this just a phase or a watershed in the politics and history of the West? Is nationalism reasserting itself as a result of the overreach of globalism? Is there a significant racist or xenophobic element involved?
I'd like your input.
