For guitar playing Zappa's "Heavy Duty Judy" from Shut Up N Play Yer Guitar should be #1

Best listened to on the Pygmy pony over by the dental floss bush.

Not everyone goes for Zappas discordant jazz style though.

That guy is light years off but I give him credit

I'm telling you, I swear to all that's Holy. You will throw out every Clapton album except for Disraeli Gears

The Heavy Duty Judy solo on "Shut Up N Play Yer Guitar" is out of this fucking world. It's Zappa and Vinny Colauita in hyperdrive sharing a musical brain.

I've listened to it no less than 800 times and I'm probably on the low side. The first time i heard it I was absolutely staggered and I've been a fan of Beck Page Clapton and Blackmore for 40 years. There's just nothing, absolutely nothing that any of them has ever played including Hendrix, that comes anywhere near the staggering instant improvisation that Zappa and Vinny had going that night. You could take any 4 bar phrase in it and make a career of it but it just goes on for 6 minutes.
